The Texans DLine coach is mic’d up. You can hear his interaction with Marcus Davenport. Cool stuff..
Davenport is having a heck of a game. However coach Romeo Crennel was being interviewed, and he says that he even though he really likes his length and athleticism. He doesn’t think he’ll get a whole lot of snaps year one because he has not fill in his body.. Still developing. Of course I’m paraphrasing and reading through the lines of what he was saying to Mayock.
Davenport might be a stud pass rusher based on what I’m seeing.

Davenport is incredibly interesting and kind of proves some of the things that are right and wrong about the scouting process. If you want to get excited you can find things that will get some people to put him near the top of their boards because he's got a ton of ability and has been blessed with some really good traits.
There's people in other camps that talk about the lack of consistency and why hasn't he shown it as much and as consistently as some of the other top guys in this draft and prior drafts who've been discussed near the top like he has. If you want to feel safe and know exactly what you're getting he will scare you and does with people that fall into this camp more often.
Then you've got the folks who recognize where his ceiling could be but it comes down to the developmental process and if you think he's the type of kid that somebody can get there. He needs a hands expert that will help him develop better 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and combo moves. He gets frustrated too early if his initial plant doesn't work IMO. That's the biggest issue with his consistency IMO.
With him I fall into camp 3. He's got a very good ceiling but you have to feel good that you'll be able to work with him and have a set plan and role for him to start out. It better be clear cut and tailored to his current abilities. You won't be able to make it up on the fly with him. Just from what I read I wouldn't want to throw so much at him right away and have high expectations from day one. I also wouldn't set his role as this and then because of injuries to another position tell him, "Now your role is going to change and now you have to do this instead and learn all these different techniques." (Hello, Solomon Thomas).
Where the frustration comes in with him with ME is that often you'll find a bunch of people who are already set in which camp they reside in with him. You'll have one person that firmly is in camp one and another person that's in camp two or three and the argument goes in circles because each person will try and beat your head in that you need to come to their camp. For me there's those 3 camps and that's the story with him IMO. It's somewhat OK to be in any one of those camps but realize that there's different ways to look at him. The type of stuff I want the team to be running he fits into better than if you tell me it's a support staff who is going to ask him to do something differently like I mentioned above.
I could potentially close my eyes and swing high for the fences with him but I wouldn't do it over several other guys at the top this year (Rosen, Nelson, Barkley, Payne, etc.).

Christian Campbell - DB - Nittany Lions
Penn State CB Christian Campbell has chosen not to take part in Saturday's Senior Bowl.
Campbell (6'0/192) pointed to "risk issues" with the game and will not play in order to preserve his health. His week in Mobile proved somewhat problematic, as the Penn State corner was slow in most of his work and additionally struggled to hang with larger receivers such as Jaleel Scott and Allen Lazard. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline put hammer to nail in his final analysis of Campbell's week, writing, "His ball skills were unimpressive and he didn't show the recovery speed or closing burst necessary to rate as more than a late-round option."

Hey Pozz, this was very helpful. The way you broke down the three diffrent groups / perspectives was dope. Also, the other day (it might even have as recent as yesterday), you made a post about how many folks in the business/analysts tend to exaggerate... anyway that was a very good feedback. Something that I’ve always questioned many years which you’ve brought to light. Thanks again for making that post, it validated what so many of us had suspected has been going on for ages. That was an awesome post.

Marcus Davenport - DL - Roadrunners
UTSA edge-rusher Marcus Davenport had a sack and returned a fumble for a touchdown for the South in a 45-16 victory over the North on Saturday in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Davenport (6'5/259) sacked Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield early in the game, and put the contest away with a 19-yard scoop late in the third that was returned for a score. Davenport was probably the most talked about prospect coming into the event, and probably had too much scrutiny for not winning every one-on-one battle during practices in Mobile. He's still a first-round lock --barring a collapse/injury during testing -- and there's a real chance he'll be the first defensive end off the board come April.

DaeSean Hamilton - WR - Nittany Lions
Penn State WR DaeSean Hamilton caught one pass for five yards for the North in a 45-16 loss on Saturday to the North in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
It was a disappointing game for Hamilton, although at least some of the blame has to go with Josh Allen's poor first half and Tanner Lee's poor play all together. It's just disappointing to see him not follow up what was reported to be an outstanding week of practices in the game on Saturday. As we've said many times, the game is secondary, however, and virtually every draft analyst sung his praises for his work in the Senior Bowl practices. Assuming he stays healthy and shows out during the combine and pro days, he's a lock for the first three rounds.

Rashaad Penny - RB - Aztecs
San Diego State RB Rashaad Penny ran for 64 yards on nine carries and caught a 73-yard touchdown pass for the South in a 45-16 victory over the North on Saturday in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Penny (5'11/224) did not have a strong week of practice, with multiple outlets reporting that he was among the more disappointing players during the week. He didn't disappoint on Saturday. His 73-yard touchdown from Kurt Benkert showed that he's a capable receiver out of the backfield, and he consistently found holes when handed the ball. It's a strong running back class, but even with the poor practices, Penny still likely goes on Day 2, with a strong chance of going in the second round.

Saquon Barkley - RB - Player
ESPN's Mike Wells believes Penn State RB Saquon Barkley will be in play for the Colts with the third overall pick.
With Frank Gore headed for free agency—he also turns 35 in May—the Colts will be seeking a workhorse in the upcoming draft. Barkley checks off all the boxes, though there's a remote possibility Cleveland would consider taking him first overall. The Browns are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback but could still draft one with the fourth overall pick. If Barkley is unavailable, Wells believes the Colts would likely pivot to NC State DE Bradley Chubb.

Baker Mayfield - QB - Player
Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reports there's "a fit developing" between the Browns and Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield.
"A lot of what he is as a player fits with John Dorsey," a league source told Robinson. "Just his makeup, John believes in building around those kinds of guys. I think he’s a strong candidate for the top pick after this week." Mayfield has been the best quarterback in Senior Bowl practices, outshining Wyoming's Josh Allen. His draft stock continues to trend up coming off a Heisman winning season. Despite size concerns, it won't be surprising if Mayfield ultimately lands in Cleveland with the first-overall pick.

Josh Allen - QB - Player
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports NFL teams "haven't been scared off" by Wyoming QB Josh Allen's Senior Bowl practices.
Allen made waves for his accuracy at Senior Bowl practices, but had generally positive reviews. "He can still make throws none of the other guys can make," a team executive told the Plain Dealer. "Tremendous arm strength, great size, he can run and he's a tremendous athlete." Allen has some of the best arm talent in this class but NFL-readiness (56.3 career completion-percentage) is a concern, and he's trending to be one of the most debated quarterbacks leading to the draft. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller doesn't expect Allen to fall out of the top-two picks.

Marquis Haynes - DL - Rebels
Sporting News writer Thomas Lott mentions Ole Miss edge-rusher Marquis Haynes as a player who had a strong Senior Bowl.
Haynes had one of the biggest plays of the game, stripping Nebraska's Tanner Lee on a sack that was picked up by UTSA's Marcus Davenport and returned for a touchdown. "Haynes is undersized at 6-3, 230 pounds, but he has a great first step and showed it off when he beat Army offensive tackle Brett Toth off the right side," Lott writes. His lack of size is certainly going to hurt his draft stock, but his productivity (32 sacks in his four years at Ole Miss) will definitely help.

Mike Gesicki - TE - Nittany Lions
Penn State TE Mike Gesicki caught three passes for 39 yards for the North in a 45-16 loss to the South on Saturday in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Gesicki (6'5/242) was mostly held in check in this one, but the game was secondary, and the former Penn State star was excellent during his Senior Bowl practices. There's still time to go, but because of his receiving skills and his ability to block inline, he just might have jumped to the top of the tight end rankings -- if he wasn't there anyway. Depending on how the combine and his pro day/workouts go, he just might go in those first 32 selections.

Marcell Ateman - WR - Cowboys
Oklahoma State WR Marcell Ateman caught one pass for a fourteen-yard touchdown on Saturday for the South in a 45-16 victory over the North in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Ateman's lone catch was impressive; a touchdown throw from Senior Bowl MVP Kyle Lauletta that showed off Ateman's impressive frame (6'4/216) and ability to separate from a defensive back. The Oklahoma State wideout wasn't consistently named a star during Senior Bowl practices, but he had a strong final year for the Cowboys, and some believe he's a better pro prospect than fellow OSU wide receiver James Washington. We'll see if that remains the case over the remaining draft months.

Durham Smythe - TE - Fighting Irish
Notre Dame TE Durham Smythe caught three passes for 48 yards and scored a touchdown for the North in a 45-16 loss to the South on Saturday in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Smythe (6'5/253) was mostly known for his blocking at his time at Notre Dame, but there were moments he looked like a competent receiver, and he showed more of those in Mobile on Saturday. The touchdown was a 27-yarder from Josh Allen where he showed quality footwork and soft hands. He projects as more of a backup inline tight end than a starter you can flex out, but teams certainly need those, and that's why Smythe will get drafted in 2018.

Kalen Ballage - RB - Sun Devils
Arizona State RB Kalen Ballage ran for 57 yards on 10 carries for the North in a 45-16 loss to the South in the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Ballage (6'2/222) looked like the best player on the North squad at times on Saturday, and that backs up the strong week of practice he put together in Mobile. His long gain was a 16-yarder, but he consistently put together four-to-five yard runs for the North squad. Ballage at times disappointed in his time with the Sun Devils and had some injury issues, but there's no denying the talent. He's worked himself into mid-round consideration at this point.

James Washington - WR - Cowboys
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller called James Washington "flawless" in Senior Bowl practices.
Flawless is high praise, but virtually every draft analyst came away pleased with how Washington (5'10/210) performed in Mobile; despite not having a catch in the actual game. Miller says the OSU wideout impressed with his "physical route-running, speed on deep routes and his ability to track and attack the deep ball." As Miller also notes, Washington "might even sneak into the late first round if he can parlay this into a strong NFL Scouting Combine performance."
