Yhea, everything I've read about Shaw tells me that he loves it in Palo Alto and isn't really looking to join the NFL ranks, but who knows. I'd still try and kick the tires on him a little bit. I love his ability to teach and I think his demeanor and interpersonal skills translate really, really well to the NFL.

As for Riddick...he's probably my #1 guy for the GM position. Just a really smart, well-grounded guy that seems to understand the big picture when it comes to top to bottom team-building.

Sounds like Riddick is there for the taking as he's been saying lots of nice thing about the 9ers on TV.

Riddick and Ballard are the two that most intrigue me but I think the focus for York right now is McDaniels and doing what it takes to land him.

John Middlekauf said on CSN BA Sports Talk Live that Josh McDaniels would be better because he was a HC, while Kyle Shanahan is too young.

McDaniels might be able to bring Casseiro and Garoppolo along, so there's continuity in the offense for the QB. Middlekauf said he's heard from NFL scouts who consider Garoppolo to be a better Andy Dalton, which would be a good bridge QB.

Well they better not give a first and fourth round picks, especially the second picks of each round, for a bridge QB.

According to Ian Rappaport, Ballard will not be interviewing anywhere and is not interested. He is happy in KC for now.

That's too bad because I liked him more than the other prospects who've been mentioned. I know Riddick is a popular name, but I'm not as convinced he'd be a good GM as others are.

I think 49ers fans are just going to have to accept that as long as the Yorks own the team, Jed and Paraag are going to be running the team.

He's like an adopted son/brother. The Yorks sent him to business school, paid for it, kept him on the payroll. Probably gets fat bonuses.

If that's true I predict that Riddick/McDaniels will be the pairing that will happen.

York wants McDaniels as this will be the 4th time they've tried to talk to him and he'll look to accommodate McDaniels by getting him the GM he wants since York is looking for that power duo between the coach and GM. He wants that Carrol/Schneider setup like Seattle has. And when it comes to Riddick if you've been watching him on ESPN lately I think it's obvious he would take the 9ers GM gig if offered to him.

And I agree with Breer on this one because I feel a lot of people undersell the positives that the team does have. Unlike the Raiders job where Mckenzie had to take a couple of years to tear the thing down and build it back up the 9ers situation is ready to build up immediately due to cap space, draft picks, no bad contracts, and a current roster setup that you take in any direction.

If he's serious about being a head coach next season out of all his options (The Broncos aren't going to want him) I do think the SF job has the most appeal.
