Fred Warner, LB, BYU getting some hype, and I'm buying every cent of it. 6'4, 230. Fit for the Will? Grew up in California; belongs on the Niners.

Josh Allen is another QB that fans are sleeping on. The other QB is Lamar Jackson:

Kyle Boller 2.0. The guy is turrible. 3.3% interception rate in the Mountain West Conference. :-?

There are several must-draft guys who it looks like could be around in the 3rd, 4th & 5th rounds this year. Absolute must drafts.

Equanimeous St. Brown
Frank Ragnow
Fred Warner (Will)
Wyatt Teller
Marquis Haynes (Sam)

...and to a lesser extent Jeff Holland (LEO)

All of these guys except maybe Holland could start for the Niners IMO. That's why outside of Quenton Allen being available at 9/10, Niners gotta trade down & get more picks (plus the top of next year's draft is friggn' stacked).

...And yes, I said Quenton Allen. He's Larry Allen cloned & turned into a white guy using Michael Jackson technology.

P.S. I wouldn't consider Malik Jefferson a must-draft, but I'd be pretty happy to roll the dice on him.

I give him about the same grade I gave Patrick Mahomes last year. Just like Mahomes, he’s not ready to start from day one. If he’s lucky enough to sit for a year behind a veteran, he’s going to turn out to be a very good QB in the league.

We’ve heard this before from them. They also weren’t “enamored” with Jared Goff; Carson Wentz; Deshaun Watson, and Patrick Mahomes. They might’ve liked Mitch Trubiski a little bit but not enough to select him #1 overall. Not being “enamored” has gotten them in this mess to begin with:

Sam Darnold - QB - Player

According to draft insider Tony Pauline, the Browns are "not enamored" with any of this year's top quarterback prospects.

Ex-NFL personnel man Greg Gabriel has been beating the drum on Twitter that Cleveland won't take a quarterback with the first overall pick, and Pauline agreed in his latest mock draft, sending Penn State RB Saquon Barkley to the Browns at No. 1. (Pauline does have Cleveland selecting USC QB Sam Darnold at No. 4.) Most draft analysts expect as many as five quarterbacks to go in the first round, namely Darnold, Josh Rosen (UCLA), Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma), Josh Allen (Wyoming), and Lamar Jackson (Louisville).

I’m posting this only because of his old man:

Raghib Ismael - WR - Cowboys

Wyoming signed previously uncommitted JUCO WR Raghib Ismael Jr.

Yep, The Rocket's son and The Missile's nephew are coming to Laramie. For those of you too young to remember, Raghib Ismael was known as the rocket, and was a star for Notre Dame, while his brother, Quadry, was known as "The Missile" starred at Syracuse and had two 1,000 yard receiving seasons in the NFL. Ismael Jr originally signed with TCU out of high school, but transferred to Cisco Junior College in Texas where he caught 48 balls for 434 yards and four touchdowns.

Sony Michel - RB - Bulldogs

On the Rotoworld Football Podcast, Josh Norris believes it is in the realm of possibility that Georgia's Sony Michel ultimately becomes the 2018 NFL Draft's best RB.

Norris loves Michel's combination of balance on contact, evasion in tight and open space, speed to create big plays and vision with the ball in his hands. In fact, all of those traits can pop up in a single run and Michel's game against Vanderbilt can be presented as evidence. Michel's major hold back is his fumble rate, as he puts the ball on the ground once every 54.6 touches. Norris firmly believes Saquon Barkley is the top running back in the class, but if all the pieces come together and Michel hits his ceiling, it would not be a surprise to see him as the best running back from this draft class.

Derrius Guice - RB - Tigers

On the Rotoworld Football Podcast, Josh Norris explained that LSU RB Derrius Guice is on the Thomas Rawls - Marshawn Laynch spectrum of player.

Norris explains this by stating Guice can thrive on contact, is an aggressive runner and frequently adds a few extra yards on final contact. That is quite different than the style that Saquon Barkley and Ronald Jones present. Classifying a player on a spectrum is important as it offers a range of outcomes.

Leighton Vander Esch - LB - Broncos

NFL Media's Mike Mayock called Boise State LB Leighton Vander Esch's game against Oregon "was as good an off-the-ball-linebacker tape as I've seen in five years."

Mayock apparently is a bit "smitten" with Vander Esch, although he notes that is after just two game tapes. The Boise State linebacker declared early and offers a somewhat similar frame to Tremaine Edmunds, so if a team misses out on the Virginia Tech product they could target LVE. Expect Vander Esch to post a solid Combine performance.

The Browns don't know a quarterback when they see one... constantly throwing touchdowns against them....

One thing about Sony Michael is that his fumble rate was atrocious. Love the way he runs, though.

Calvin Ridley - WR - Crimson Tide

NFL Network's Mike Mayock said Alabama WR Calvin Ridley will "become predominantly a slot receiver in the NFL."

NFL.com's Lance Zierlein is more bullish on Ridley (6'1/190), comparing him to Hall of Fame WR Marvin Harrison. Zierlein continues by saying "Ridley has game-changing talent complete with blazing speed and rare route-running ability for a college prospect. He ran the full route tree at Alabama, has experience working in a pro-style attack and is a plug-and-play starter on day one." Ridley's an older prospect at age 24 and has plenty of upside as Zierlein mentions, but does have some concerns about dealing with press coverage. This is likely where Mayock's idea of Ridley playing mostly in the slot comes from.

Quenton Nelson - G - Fighting Irish

DraftAnalyst.com's Tony Pauline projects Notre Dame G Quenton Nelson to be selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the seventh pick in his updated mock draft.

Pauline notes that Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick would likely be the Buccaneers first option if he is still available. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein compares Nelson (6'5/330) to Hall Of Fame G Larry Allen. Zierlein backs up his comparison by saying Nelson's an "Elite guard prospect with outstanding size, rare power and a block finisher who can make tape room sessions uncomfortable for most opponents. Nelson is technically sound and is unlikely to face a long adjustment period once he gets into the league," and "has the traits and talent to become an All-Pro guard for years to come."

Rashaan Evans - LB - Crimson Tide

Rotoworld's Thor Nystrom ranks Rashaan Evans as the top inside linebacker ahead of Boise State's Leighton Vander Esch.

"He’s a first-round talent." Nystrom writes. Evans (6'3/234) has "Tremendous size/athleticism combination, technically sound and physical in run defense. He can get after the quarterback when unleashed as a rusher. Fits as either a 3-4 ILB or a 4-3 OLB." Mock drafts seem to be split between who will go first between Evans and Vander Esch at the moment, but Evans should be the one who hears his name called first come draft day.

Josh Rosen - QB - Bruins

Via NFL Media's Mike Silver, UCLA QB Josh Rosen denied ever expressing concerns about potentially playing for the Browns.

"I’ve never said anything about not wanting to play in Cleveland. I don’t know where that came from," Rosen stated. Back in December, Adam Schefter reported Rosen would be "hesitant" to declare if the Browns ended up with the No. 1 selection, and Rosen even said he'd "rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team." Who knows, this is all draft process kerfuffle. The Browns and every other team interested in Rosen will have an opportunity to get to know him on a personal level.

Josh Allen - QB - Cowboys

Independent QB counselor George Whitfield believes Josh Allen is the most talented prospect at the position since Cam Newton.

Whitfield famously worked with Cam and took his platform to a higher level after that. He has since worked with other passers, including Jameis Winston, but Allen seems to be Whitfield's guy this draft season after working with the Wyoming quarterback last summer. "Believe me when I say that there hasn't been a talent like this come out of college football since Cam Newton. I try to be conservative in my thoughts about Josh, but that's the truth," Whitfield said. We will all get to watch Allen throw again at the NFL Combine.
