That's just downright depressing, and its actually worse because they forgot to put Dee Ford on that list.

Oh and the simple fact that Week Freakin 2 isn't even over yet.

We might have seen the last of Solly Thomas, although I can envision him returning on a cheap 1 year contract next season.

Here's a little dose of positive news:

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29939465/san-francisco-49ers-jimmy-garoppolo-chance-play-sunday-tevin-coleman-likely-multiple-weeks
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who has a high right ankle sprain, is still considered day-to-day, according to Shanahan. Although that injury usually requires at least a month to recover, Shanahan said the "severity is not real bad," which means Garoppolo has a chance to play Sunday -- rather than backup Nick Mullens -- against the New York Giants.

"If he's good to go and the doctors say he's healthy and he can go out there and protect himself, and if Jimmy feels confident in doing it and it gives us the best chance to win, if that's the case, then Jimmy will be out there," Shanahan said. "If Jimmy is not safe and can't protect himself, then we'll go with Nick."

Its looking like Jimmy has a good chance to only miss one game, and suit up against Philly.

cornerback Jason Verrett (hamstring) is expected to return to practice Wednesday.

If Verrett can actually get on the field and perform up to even half of what his talent is, that would be a big lift to the secondary and defense as a whole.

Now another dose of potentially bad news:

Of more concern is defensive end Dee Ford, who was a pregame inactive because of what was then called a neck injury. Shanahan explained Monday that further testing to Ford revealed more of a back issue.

"It's more of a back injury than neck spasms, so anytime it's the back, that is an issue," Shanahan said. "So we're still working into that, but at least we can clarify what it is."

This sounds ominous, back issues are always tricky and Ford definitely doesn't seem like the type who can be productive trying to play through ailments.

While Jimmy played great, the last thing I want to see at this point is his gimpy ankle on that same treacherous field this Sunday. Mullens should be good enough to beat the Giants without Barkley. Hope Ansah is in good enough shape to play 10-15 snaps since our DL will definitely need someone to give them a blow or they will be completely out of gas before the end of the game.

And Dee Ford is now out indefinitely with a back injury. If he cannot/will not ever be on the field to help this team, can't understand why we don't find the most financially advantageous way to move on from him. Not even Superman can help this team if he doesn't ever set foot on the field.

The Dee Ford trade was a bust..

And if Jason Verrett doesn’t come back soon then we should part ways with him

Signing of DE Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah and promotion of DL Dion Jordan from Practice Squad was made official this morning.

DE Nick Bosa and DL Solomon Thomas were placed on IR list.

RB Austin Walter signed to the Practice Squad. Walter spent 2019 training camp and preseason with the 49ers. He last played with the Dallas Renegades of the XFL in 2020.

Apparently the 3rd visit is the charm.

Ziggy isn't what he once was, but they could do worse by signing someone off the street. He doesn't have to pile up sacks, just needs to eat up blocks and penetrate the pocket semi-consistently.

Ziggy struggled badly last season. He just wasn't producing at all. He can't get pressure consistently anymore. The guy was pretty useless for us if I'm being honest.

Kyle Shanahan is going to be put to the test from here on out, no way our defense is going to recover from the loss of Bosa so I’m interested to see if he can make this offense one of the top 3 in the league.

Big week:

Proof we don't need Jimmy G under center
Proof we should have signed Cam Newton in the offseason
Proof Mike Davis is a viable starter
Proof we should have drafted KJ Hamler, Trevon Diggs, or Patrick Queen over Brandon Aiyuk
Proof Ahkello should be the guy opposite of Sherman

I know Kittle is questionable but I hope he doesn't play. Better to have him rest one more game against a bad team than risk him missing a lot more playing on that terrible field. Anyone already dealing with a lower body injury (knee, ankle, foot) should be held out.
