I get the fan reaction but it really doesn't seem that serious since the people who saw the open portion of practice said he looked normal out there.

Obviously not good that he's on the injury report but I don't think we're seeing a repeat of last season.

John Chapman is reporting that this is nothing new, but rather the practice they have been using with CMC all training camp, days on, days off, as a precautionary measure to keep him fresh. I know I want to believe.

Another reporter said the same thing. I guess we will find out on game day

NFL's Tom Pelissero is reporthing that "no alarm bells are going off in the building and gets the sense that it may be precautionary." Lets hope so!

I don't know what to believe anymore. CMC says he feels great and was just listening to his body and wants to play Sunday

CMC seemed to play a couple of snaps, then go out for a couple of snaps. Still got like 36 touches. Once Kittle went out, CMC was the short passing game and when they needed a clutch play they went to him.

Hope that Pearsall gets more looks but only 4 receptions though they were all downfield routes.

Thought when he was drafted his short area quickness would make him be used more like Deebo or Wes Welker with a lot of underneath routes. But no they have him going vertical, which is good but it seems like he’d be good at moving the chains, because his quickness would help get separation right away.

I wonder when Aiyuk comes back if they'll push Pearsall more underneath with Aiyuk taking over the routes Pearsall is currently running.

That is what I see happening. I could see him in a Copper Kupp type roll.

In bigger news, they extended McKivitz for three years, $15 million per year. It's a lot of money, but I love the move. McKivitz has quietly come into his own at what is maybe the weakest position in the NFL (RT in particular). He's not spectacular, but he's been very solid, and I think he gets $20+ million on the open market this offseason if he plays the way he did last year so we get the home-team discount. He also did things the right way, showing up and busting his ass every day of camp. OT still a huge need, obviously, but we just couldn't go into this offseason with two holes at OT, which was a realistic prospect prior to this move.

I read max of $5 million, which suggests there are some incentives, and possibly sizable ones. Whatever they are, they will be "unlikely to be earned" given his injury issues last year, so they won't impact the cap this year. My feelings about this chart Jennings' status. If he's out for the next two games, we just need someone in here to be a reliable outlet for Purdy.

Bourne got a big contract from the Pats when he left the 49ers, IIRC.

Guess he didn't live up to that contract. He was kind of coming into his own his last season with the 49ers, being reliable for beating nickel backs when Deebo and Kittle were getting most of the defense attention.

Yeah, he was a big disappointment for them. But he dealt with a lot of injuries. Not a guy I want to rely on to play a big role this season, but as a relatively cheap stopgap until we get reinforcements, its' fine.

I was about to say maybe they blew it as Cooper signed for $3.5 million, but looks like he just retired. Wow. That's a shock.

He was really good in 2021 for the Pats but yeah, just couldn't stay healthy

I was okay not getting Cooper. One has to commit his commitment. He strikes me as another Deebo where he just doesn't put forward a consistent effort. A Raider friend told me his last year on the Raiders he was dropping easily catchable balls and just appeared checked out. He seemed to ball out in Dallas after being traded but seemed near the end he kind of quit on them.
