That wasted play on 1st down, killed that drive

Offense has to get better with a lot of things, but one of those is being better on 1st downs. They consistently 2 yards or less, which gets them off schedule. Most of that comes back to not being able to run the ball.

Not exactly.

After that 1st down passing play was DOA, CMC picked up 1 whole yard on a carry, which made it 3rd & 9. In that situation, 2nd down wasn't ideal for a run play, and 3rd down was 100% a passing situation.
