Oh, interesting. I didn't see that. Just heard about Hudson on the radio actually, I think.

Lots of mid-tier guys out there, and I'd like to see us bring some guys back for one- or two-year deals on the cheap. That can wait, but we need to flesh out this roster a bit. DJ Jones comes to mind, a slot corner (Williams or someone else), maybe a depth piece at OG (better than Tom Compton), a receiver or two.

Also need a WR now that Bourne is gone. Curtis Samuel anyone? Speedster, similar skills to Deebo and Aiyuk.

Probably would have been gone if not for the squeeze of the salary cap this season and his injury

Yeah, receiver was the last position I mentioned. I'd love to bring in Samuel. He'd be an ideal fit out of the slot for us. But he might be too expensive, and may want to go somewhere where he's not the fourth receiving option.

Nice. That's a potentially significant re-sign. Especially if he can stay healthy.

Looks like Jones will get the 4th Year Qualifying Contract, which gets him a base salary of 2.24M but only counts 990k toward the cap.

What a great deal, considering Thomas just got $5M

49ers re-sign CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun and TE Daniel Helm. Roster is at 71 players.

Happy to have DJ back.

Solly is a likable guy, but man what a terrible draft pick that was. The only way it could have been worse is if they stood pat and took him at #2.

Dang, I way under-estimated what they gave him. Hopefully that contract is highly incentive based. But with an OL, you are basically looking at snap counts/pro bowl nominations/etc. Performance based incentives for an O Lineman aren't super common.

If bet it's mostly or all guaranteed. Our FO had some strengths, but when they want a guy, price isn't a factor. "Value" appears to be a foreign concept.

Samuel signed with Washington for three years, $34.5 million. Way out of our price range.

Whats left?

Seems like

Backup QB
3rd Rb?
WR3
O-Line Depth
D-Line Depth
Safety

Most of this is probably addressed in the draft. I really wanted Trubisky, upset he went to the Bills. Id like to bring in Antonio Brown if there's any chance to steal him from Brady. Guy can still play and would be a solid WR3 who could step up if Deebo/Aiyuk miss games.

Ya I expected as much. Hes got a shot to be the #2 in Washington, back with Rivera. In SF he woulda been our 4th option on a run heavy team. He was leaving the same situation in Carolina.

Slot corner has got to be the number one priority right now, whether it's K. Williams or someone else. After that, we desperately need to upgrade RG at some point, and add depth everywhere. Personally, I'd rather just roll the dice with Rosen than go with a guy like Flacco, but I get it after last year. For all his reputation as a QB whisperer, Shanahan has done a **** job with the position for this team. He could use a little more humility, I think.

Re: Thomas, I wish him well - though that would be easier if he weren't with the Raiders. I always hated that pick, but the guy had plenty going against him. Played out of position at DE, sister committed suicide, and a serious injury. I'll always wonder what might have been if they'd just played him inside on pass rush downs from the start, and the off-field stuff and injury didn't happen. Regardless, though, basically zero chance he ever would have lived up to the draft pick we used on him.

Ahh Knew I was missing that. I Prefer to bring Williams back.

Agree about Rosen. No interest in bringing Flacco in. If we are dead set on bringing in an old vet, bring in Smith.

I felt like Brunksill played well in 2019 when he came in at RG, last year he was moved around so much. I would like to give him a shot at the position for a full year to see how he does
