that's not to say we could'nt been better, there are at least 3 games we should've won if our defense didn't completely collapse in the second half of games, I'd put that on coaching and scheming for sure and a general lack of discipline and focus. really we should at least be 7-5 now even with all the injuries, but w/e. maybe it's a blessing in disguise that'll help us revamp for the next couple of years.

Honestly, if Purdy costs less and we get a strong draft class out of it, it may prove to be a good thing. Just frustrating, as I felt we were better on paper this year than last.

I read somewhere the draft class for QBs over the next couple of years isnt looking too good

yea, looks completely barren other than few duel threat guys who are in a best case scenario gonna be Jalen Hurts in the NFL...maybe Arch Manning can actually live up to the hype.

They are blitzing almost 40% of the time.

Lions have kept up pass pressure rate even after Hutchinson went down. Not sure if they really increased the frequency of blitzes or they've always been blitzing a lot.

Chiefs, they have pass rushers but pressure is Spagnolo's system.

Bowles' Bucs are probably up there as well, though they tend to give up a lot of passing yards.

Blitzing is the current defensive meta and to me it's easy to see why by just watching our own offensive line suck. Blitzing stresses the offensive line and forces mental mistakes and it also puts stress on the QB to make quicker decisions with the ball and leaves him unsure of who is coming and from where.

The league is filled with really smart offensive-minded coaches that know how to dial up plays to expose coverages which is where blitzing comes in to put stress on offenses mentally.

there is some talk aboutn Niners trading Kyle to Chicago for like 3 first rounders...i'd only consider that if we you can guarantee me Vrabel or something

I don't think they could have schemed their way to the SB, but they could have done a hell of a lot better. Especially on defense.

I agree that at this point we need to focus on giving young players some opportunities and look to the future, but w also need serious upgrades at DC and STs coordinator.

eh, i dunno man, 4th DC in 4 years can take its toll, the brain drain on that side is real, and I think in general our defensive personnel are kinda overrated. we were seeing a lot of holes and gaps last year under Wilks and this year it's just taken full form, and full season injuries to Hargrave and Greenlaw hasn't helped at all. also, tbh, Nick Bosa is pretty overrated. getting paid like a Watt or a Garrett but isn't nearly the game changer they are.

I do think we have personnel issues.

DTs we have aren't great for the Wide 9

Campbell is a completely liability on 3rd downs

We have a bunch of SS and no real FS. Brown hasn't been great either.

I partially agree with Bosa because I do think he should win more but I also think because we are so incredibly basic with just rushing 4 guys straight up we do nobody upfront any favors.

We make it a lot easier for offensive lines to block us when we don't blitz, when we do blitz we blitz poorly, and not much when it comes to stunting and moving guys around.

I'm also not a fan of the Wide 9 because offensive linemen in general aren't slow moving behemoths anymore and most of them have a degree of athleticism so the speed benefit that the pass rusher is supposed to gain from it isn't really there. In fact I think because we are so vanilla with our pass rush all it does is give the OT more time to setup and get his hands up to engage. If we actually blitzed more it might actually have some benefit since the Wide 9 opens up wider blitz lanes which should be harder to pick up. But for whatever reason even the rare times we do blitz our guys run right into blocks and don't even attempt to use their speed to shed them or avoided them.

The Fields/Lance/Jones class was supposed to be a great draft class and it has been a bust thus far

He’s got 3 rings and 5 long playoff runs. All with different supporting casts. The only constants are him, Kelce and Chris Jones.

He won again today all by himself. All those jet sweeps and five yard passes to hus running backs. He wasnt helped by a top three offensive line that had no penalties and a defense that basically ahut down Houston's offense in the second half. Did it all himself.

Just saw a bit of the Chiefs and Texans game.

No PI called at the goal line where the Chiefs DBs sandwich the WR before the ball arrives and then Texans get called for OPI on a pass to the flat that gained maybe 5 yards, taking them out of the red zone.

Chiefs DL was in Strouds face for much of the second quarter.

No doubt, and he is already a first ballot HOF. So, is that your standard? We keep looking for another Mahomes? He is a unicorn, like MJ in the NBA. Also his stats this year are just average. How could that be? If the current greatest qb in the game isn't blowing teams out by scoring 40 points a game, why do you expect the same from our guy.

Purdy is terrible he got us to an NFC championship game and the next year had Mahomes beat inthe SB. Now, one subpar year, largely due to ST and defense collapsing and you are ready to dump our top 10 qb. Why hasn't Josh Allen carried his team to an SB win?

Dude, I can't take you seriously if you can watch Josh Allen & Purdy and think that they are on the same level. This is just basic stuff here.
