Related notes, Niners only have two safeties on the 53 at this point. That's got to change. Tayler Hawkins is on the practice squad and could be due to be promoted. Who do we cut? I'd go Ross Dwelley. He's only played 11% of snaps on offense, and we have four players at the position. Virtually no chance another team picks him up, so he could go to the PS. Better that than cutting a guy with upside in Brayden Willis.

Niners signed safety Erik Harris to the practice squad. He's a veteran at 33 and played for the Falcons in 21 and 22 and the Raiders before that. He's started 43 games since 2018 so at least they have someone who has started if forced to use him. And given that Odom may have been our best special teams player (named All Pro twice for special teams), it is noteworthy that Harris has played over 1,500 special teams snaps in his career.

49ers may be chirping ahead of a big game again.

Apparently Deebo has said some stuff about one of the Eagles players.

Last time 49ers chirped, they were 5-0 and going into Cleveland, where they should have won but got physically manhandled.

Now they're riding a 3-game win streak, feeling good about themselves, but heading into the big matchup.

I get ya, but we don’t see Kyle pining for adversity, and if anything the problem in Cleveland was looking past them, and there’s just no way the 9ers are looking past this week. Huff aside this is pretty much us as full strength as we can expect to be, so barring major injuries or one-sided officiating, we won’t really have any excuses should we lose. They’d just be better than us. Home field might help, but we pretty much authored our own fate there, so if we can’t beat them in Philly that’s us ~ done.

The matchup against the Eagles is a poor one for us but they aren't unbeatable and the team has 10 days to rest and prepare for it so there really aren't any excuses.

Their offensive line is great which hurts the effectiveness of our defensive line which exposes the weak link in the defense the secondary.

The issues with mobile QBs is well documented. However, I feel the defense can be alright against mobile QBs when they are focused and usually they get gashed when they don't feel threatened by a QB's legs and play undisciplined trying to get sacks.

They have a strong defensive line at every spot and our offensive line is pretty below average outside of Williams. I think we saw with the Browns game that if the defensive line can flat-out win handily it really disrupts this offense and it gets ugly.

On the plus side and where we can win is the Eagles' defense beyond their front 4 is nothing special and if the offensive line can just hold somewhat steady I think they can be had there.

Armstead missed practice today because of his foot. We really need him healthy, he has been playing really well the last 3 games

Zach Ertz was released. He'll probably clear waivers as he's still injured and quite expensive, but seems like a likely candidate for the Eagles, who have been without Goedert.

Armstead out again from practice today but he did tell reporters he will play Sunday
McCloud and Mason also missing practice again. Not a fan of losing our punt returner in a huge game.

Yeah, that's a concern. Especially when the backup would presumably be a rookie in Bell. Though McCloud hasn't been killing it lately. Really lucky we recovered his fumble on Thanksgiving. THat could have definitely shifted momentum.

I am forever scarred with punt returns after Kyle Williams.

I was in the second-to-last row of the stadium for that game. Remains one of the great disappointments of my life....

My story might be better. I was in college at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game with my dad who visited, it was storming that night and the power went off right before the fumble and I was freaking out. I called my now wife who was at college 3 hours from me watching the game on a small TV in her dorm room. I was walking around BWW screaming on the phone for updates and then the power came back on and I heard her say "Oh no" and 30 seconds later I see the play on TV. People thought I was insane

With Seattle losing tonight they fall 3 games in the loss column behind us. All but guarantees we win division again.

Eagles are not what they were last year when they DOMINATED. This year they could have lost any of the last 3 and really haven't dominated anyone. And I believe we are better than last year. Rich Gannon said on the radio this morning that several nfl insiders think we win easily.

I think our defense takes it for us, assuming they come to play and I think they will. I hope greenlaw is 100%, have not seen too much of him the last few games. I see us winning something like 28 to 24, with Warner dropping hurts on a key 4th down at the end. I suspect we get a lead and they come back and finger nails will be down to nothing.

The Eagles still scare me. They are pretty weak up the middle right now, which plays into our strengths. And their DBs haven't been what they were last year. But they can plug the run up the middle, and that offense is scary. We absolutely can win if we show up to play - and I think we will. But we've also seen this team look awfully listless. The OL will need to play a good game.

That's rough. Though people tend to think I'm insane any time I watch the Niners in a public place. Apparently cursing out players by first name is unusual in some fan circles?

49ers dominated after the 1st quarter or first couple of offensive possessions vs. Eagles.

Avoided all the weaknesses, like the Eagles pass rush, especially vs. the right side of the OL and DBs being matched vs. their playmakers, Brown and Smith.

In fact the DL didn't do too much, should have had a couple of coverage sacks because the secondary held up pretty well, though you held your breath every time Hurts was picking out one on one balls to Brown and Smith.

Hope the 49ers can get HFA, because going back to Philly when the weather will be bad is something to avoid.

So are we done with the fire Wilks thing now?

Not to say he's been perfect or anything but I feel it's like I suspected a few weeks ago that players he was working with prevented him from calling the game like he really wanted to and now he's got the secondary playing the way he wants and can call the game more inline with how he wants the defense has been much better.

I thought at 3rd and long from like the 12, the 49ers blitzed and let the Eagles convert it for first down on a slant to Brown and him powering through 2 DBs to convert. If the LBs dropped into short zones, maybe Brown doesn't convert that first down or don't even catch the ball at all.

Not that it mattered but it's the second time a blitz hurt them.
