We gave up a lot.... uhmmm should I be happy??? The only thing worth mentioning is that he has very long arms and a good double move guy.... is he a vertical threat? Speed threat? What separates him?

Big wingspan they said.

More YAC than Rugger, but then of course they play in different conferences.

OK, 4.5 40 in the combine.

So maybe he would have improved the time if he had a Pro day?

I mean...I like Aiyuk. I just had visions of trading back and taking him around 40. Not trading up and taking him at 25. Granted WRs are going faster than I anticipated. I figured Reagor might still be there at our pick.

This offseason was all about recreating last year. That's okay. Last year was a great season until the final eight minutes. But I was hoping this team was building for the future, and I'm not confident that's what we've done today. No picks tomorrow. Now we're going to have to flesh out all our depth with lesser players. We need to take at least two CBs on day three. Of course, we only have three picks left, so good luck with that.

Man, that sure smells like a panic move.

Initial thoughts on this draft is that I hate it. And its gonna be quite awhile until they can make another pick to try to change that.

Runs 4.5 in the 40. Scouting report calls him above average route runner with a good burst and is "fast enough" to be a vertical threat.

This FO and the trading up kills me. You work the draft by letting the value fall to you. Not by targeting specific players and overpaying for them. They do this every year. I'm SHOCKED we didn't trade up for Samuel last year, when we clearly should have traded back and still taken him. We needed that fourth round pick to bolster the roster.

What does Aiyuk do well? I’m honestly asking, he has long arms, double move guy... what else? Want to be thrilled but more ehhhh

NFL.com lists his strengths and weaknesses as:

Strengths
Can feast off of off-man coverage
Rapid foot turnover into routes
Flashed ability to manipulate corners away from his route
Bursts out of stems to open windows for his quarterback
Routes are linear but crisp and fast
Long arms and soft hands for above average catch radius
Ball plucker with quick tuck to transition into runner
First-down maker
Considered the YAK (Yards After King) in college football
Able to elude initial tackle and runs with elevated urgency
Instincts and open-field vision of a running back

Weaknesses
Not always ready for anticipatory throws
Will need to add physicality with his finesse
Could face early struggles against aggressive press-man
Bumpy downfield coverage throws him off-kilter
Average vertical separation
Gained a chunk of receiving yardage on catch-and-run throws
Inconsistent catching through clingy coverage
Needs to learn to create catch space with his frame
Can lose route effectiveness when forced to sink and break

So the Niners' next pick is... 156? :banghead:

There goes an nfl-caliber CB or depth at LB. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And we made it to the Super Bowl when nobody thought we could. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

We have a slow WR with long arms. Yay. Michael Crabtree 2.0. :noway:
