I know there are other needs, especially DL, but hypothetically speaking how would y’all feel about devoting the entire draft to the OL?

I cant see that realistically happening but wpuld like to at least see a couple of picks on OL. Preferably on the high end

It’s not realistic, but my thinking is that this season of losing might provide an ephemeral phase of humility and I want to strike while the iron is hot.

Agree its not realistic, but if 75+% of the picks are used on OL, DL, and CB, I'd be OK with that.

Don't care who Kyle likes or not anymore as he has a bad habit of reaching and don't think Membou can handle bendy edge rushers. I like this Hawaiian better at right tackle. Can pancake as a guard too and more versatile at this point. Might be able to trade down to pick up more picks and still grab this stud prospect on day 1.

Wanted Frazier last draft and would trade both Pearsall and Deebo for him now.

Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
I'm actually in favor of trading down if they can't get guy that's a future quality LT at #11.
I'll put an asterisk on that if top 5 pick kind of player slides to #11 I'd take it as well. And usually a number of QBs end up climbing into the top 10 there is a chance for it.
But looking at the roster, I just feel it needs more good players than it does superstar talent. So I would rather trade down if it means more 2nd and 3rd round picks.

That might be 2x captain Will Campbell to eventually replace Trent as he commands respect from his play protecting Daniels.Jikkle wrote:I'm actually in favor of trading down if they can't get guy that's a future quality LT at #11.

Still don't think Kyle has any plans to draft OL in the first round, otherwise he could have taken 3x pro bowler and first team all pro Penei Sewell instead of Trey Lance Lol cause he believe in gimmicky plays to open lanes and protect the line using those unique players found anywhere on day 3. They will probably draft DL day 1 which is also a need and take either Mason Graham or Kenneth Grant, both solid run stoppers while pressuring QB up the middle all game long from the mighty Wolverines. If they can get both guys, oh my...would hate trying to block on them.

That would not surprise me at all. JL/KS have their draft board and the players they want on their draft board. If the OL prospects they prefer don't fall to them and there are prospects they like in the second or third round I can see them taking who they think will have the most impact in the first round. It could be any of the following, OL,DL/DE, LB

The buzz seems to be the Patriots will take Will Campbell with the 4th overall pick to protect Mayes now that Vrabel is their new HC who wants a dominate line with a big back. Well so much for him dropping down to the 49ers LolPattersonca65 wrote:WentzerWuver wrote:That might be 2x captain Will Campbell to eventually replace Trent as he commands respect from his play protecting Daniels.Jikkle wrote:I'm actually in favor of trading down if they can't get guy that's a future quality LT at #11.

We might have to trade up to get him on draft day if Lynch knows how to work the phones like other GMs.

I'm warming to Josh Simmons, too. I'd be okay with Campbell, Banks, or Simmons at 11. Certainly happy with Graham if he falls. Carter, too. Mykel Williams seems like an interesting fit. Should be a good player there at a position of legitimate need regardless.

Same other than Simmons at 11, but I think it's paramount to get a promising LT in this draft and this prospect is the real deal. Maybe the 49ers can find another Puni in the 4th round, who was by far the best pick in last year's draft, at offensive tackle. I would take Conerly Jr over Simmons.CrimsonCrew wrote:WentzerWuver wrote:The buzz seems to be the Patriots will take Will Campbell with the 4th overall pick to protect Mayes now that Vrabel is their new HC who wants a dominate line with a big back. The Locked On guys love Connerly. I usually see him going late in the first, but those rankings/mocks will change a lot as we get closer to the draft.
I haven't scouted these guys myself, but seems like there will be some choices at OT at 11. And if we miss out at 11, we could perhaps move up in the second and try to land someone. Wyatt Millum is interesting, as is Armand Membou, and they could be available late-first or early-second. Though I think Brugler just had us taking Membou at 11 in his most recent mock.

Yes but Membou at 11 is way too high for a versatile right tackle. Simmons also torn his ACL, and you are considering him?CrimsonCrew wrote:WentzerWuver wrote:Same other than Simmons at 11, but I think it's paramount to get a promising LT in this draft and this prospect is the real deal. I know Simmons is coming off the injury, but lots of places have him as the #1 OT when healthy. Obviously it's a risk, and the medicals would be important for him, but the upside appears to be there. As said, I haven't watched him myself other than bits and pieces of OSU games where I wasn't keying on him this year.

He's been out since October but OSU still made it to the CFP National Championship Game. Hope he recovers fully but not a fan of drafting linemens that high with knee injuries prior to the draft. Had they lost one more game, they be drafting 7th.CrimsonCrew wrote:WentzerWuver wrote:Yes but Membou at 11 is way too high for a versatile right tackle. I'm late to this discussion, but wanted to chime in. OL is a huge need, but we're going to have 10 or 11 picks, and have lots of other needs, so literally going ALL OL would be crazy. That said, I'd be fine to go heavy OL.
I've been kind of obsessing doing a mock or two a day (just for the Niners on various simulator sites), and I kind of like the result when we go heavy OL. A semi-typical draft for me may be taking OT in the first (usually Banks or Campbell, sprinkling in a little Simmons), taking an OT/OG like Wyatt Milum in the second or Marcus Mbow in the third, and then taking an OC later (almost always Majors, McLaughlin, or Monheim). I tend to like the way those drafts turn out. Ideally we'd start the first-rounder at RT, the OT/OG at LG, and the OC at center next year, with the hope that we will have our future OTs for several years.
This draft is really deep at DE, and has some good options at DT, too, so I'm confident we can get fill those spots. It will likely depend to some extent on how big a need safety (if Huf leaves, it's a pretty glaring need) and LB (same if Greenlaw leaves) are at the time of the draft. If we can put those off until rounds 4 or later, then we have a lot more flexibility.

I think you will like Kiper Jr latest mock on the 49ers more than me but at least he understands the 49ers most important needs like every team top needs better than most draft analysts cause he study films on prospects fit with current team needs, even tho that player might end up being a bust which has been a problem of his but that is not the point. The Patriots are so fortunate being where they are and is a better pick at 4 than taking Hunter with the top overall pick.
https://youtu.be/Yi3V1vqmolg?si=6IZ23RJYF3W-4raL
At least Kiper doesn't reach like Kyle does too often in drafts and better than running random simulators.
