Re: 49ers regular season game notes
49ers’ top pass catcher was ... Carlos Hyde? (and other interesting numbers)

Haha I remember thinking at the combine that I hope he wasn't there for the coin toss with the Raiders.

Refocused, NFL Week 1: Minnesota Vikings 24, San Francisco 49ers 16
https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-refocused-nfl-week-1-vikings-24-49ers-16
One of the standouts for the 49ers’ defense was Arik Armstead. He was able to make an impact on the edge in run defense and was moved inside and beat Mike Remmers with consistency. Armstead will have to lead the defensive unit that should be the strength of the 49ers’ defense this season.
The 49ers got solid contributions from their long rangy outside cornerbacks, Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon. The one blemish on the day was the Stefon Diggs touchdown, but other than that the 49ers wide receivers had a limited impact.

Briefly: Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner’s 2.5 sacks were the most by a 49er in a game since Aldon Smith had 5.5 in 2012. … Rookie inside linebacker Fred Warner (12 tackles, forced fumble, pass breakup) became the first member of the 49ers to have 10-plus tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup since NaVorro Bowman in 2013. … Rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis became the first 49er since Vernon Davis in 2006 to score a touchdown on his first career catch. Pettis had a 22-yard TD reception in the third quarter. … Robbie Gould, who made field goals of 43, 33 and 22 yards, is one shy of tying Phil Dawson’s franchise record for consecutive field-goal attempts converted (27).

And that TD pass was absolutely perfect; it's almost impossible to defend a perfectly-thrown, over-the-top pass like that.
Well done by the D (except Thomas falling for the hard count

Re: 49ers regular season game notes
Wow. Ok....
Kikaha has torn his ACL 3 times in his career. If he even has ONE leg left, I'd probably still rather sign him than Walden. If you bring him in you're asking him for one thing: pass rush. He never really did anything else that well even coming into the NFL when he was healthier (had 2 ACL injuries coming in to the NFL).
Erik freaking Walden is one of my LEAST favorite players who has gotten an NFL paycheck on the defensive side of the ball in recent memory. How the Colts and Titans got ANY production out of him after his Packers days is beyond me. Maybe you can make a case he was misused as a Packer but anytime the 49ers faced him when he was a Packer you could have made a case for him being one of the best things going for the 49ers in those games. They routinely roasted him multiple times and ways when they played. I couldn't be any more of a hard pass on that guy and that's with the production two different teams got out of him recently.

I am expecting very little out of anyone they pick off the street at this time of year. They would already be on a team if they had all that much to offer.
