If Gamble is the guy then why isn't he taking part in the interviews for HCs?
Does he for second round interviews?

Exactly. Why the dog and pony show? Why not have him help with the interviews? Why not promote him already? Why are they still doing GM interviews?

All of it makes us look just as dysfunctional and clueless as we all thought

Ok I just rewatched the York presser from Jan 2 and here is the quote: "I have a ton of respect for Tom Gamble, but I think it's time that we get two new people at the helm."

I really hope he sticks to that. I'm freaking floored by this new rumor.

I'll take the Gamble rumor with a grain of salt for now but because it's York you can't completely dismiss it.

The issue with the rumor is that they haven't interviewed him or have an interview even set up at the moment. They have a huge gap after Tuesday before they interview again so you would figure they would interview Gamble in the mean time.

In the presser York basically said Gamble wasn't on the radar and if Gamble was a possibility I think York would've opened the door a little more for that than he did.

Also I don't think York fires Chip if Gamble was the guy he was planning on all along. I think he would've kept Chip and told everyone "The GM will decide Chip's fate" all the while planning on Gamble taking over and keeping Chip. The reason you get rid of Chip is to make the GM job as attractive as possible and if you weren't planning on getting someone from the outside why bother.

Even Kawakami doesn't think Gamble is what York is looking for right now but wouldn't dismiss the possibility if York strikes out in the first round of interviews.

Gamble is highly regarded and respected in the front office so I do believe York would love to keep Gamble on board but I see him making him the GM or forcing Gamble on whoever he hires at GM.

Silver says no team has offered McDaniels yet. I'm wondering if Jed might be slow playing this due to fear of rejection.

I don't think Jed will make an offer until the GM is in place and then they'll schedule the second interview so they can say the GM hired the coach.

Also Peter King indicated the process is still very early so I see the Saturday meetings McDaniels had is more of the feel each other out variety and not the type you hammer out a deal with.

My guess is that they'll choose between Riddick and Wolf assuming Wolf is McDaniels approved once one of they'll setup the second interview where they'll hire McDaniels if the Pats are out of it or they'll get the ole Dan Quinn wink and nod agreement and start hiring the positional coaches McDaniels wants.

Another thought is why fire Kelly after just one year if your intention is to promote Gamble anyway. The reason to fire Kelly after just season was to make a clean slate and allow the GM to have say in who the coach is. It really doesn't make sense to promote Gamble unless no one wants to take the job.
