Well I guess they feel good about Jalen Hurd, because despite losing Bourne the only thing they have done this offseason at WR is bring back Sanu who is cooked. It wasn't even a strong position group with Bourne.

Any WR brought in at this point would likely be depth or not make the team. I’d rather resign Jordan Matthews doe that.

Usable depth at WR would be quite desirable at this point.

I'll chance on a gimmick one... one trick pony...

The likelihood of any of these guys being “usable” is slim. We have tons of useable WR’s

Who among Jalen Hurd/Richie James/Trent Sherfield/Travis Benjamin/Mohamed Sanu/Mathew Cole/Jauan Jennings/River Cracraft/Kevin White/Austin Proehl would you feel comfortable deploying regularly?

Yeah, those aren't exactly great things for a S.

Lol wtf

Oh man

Can he turn to LB?

From what I'm hearing he's basically a LB masquerading as a S. So perhaps the plan is to move him to LB.

There does seem to be talk out there that Hufanga could become a LB. Needs to put on about 15 pounds.

That’s the thing, I feel the same way or worse about the talent right now in the draft.

I want to see what Jauan Jennings has or Jalen Hurd. Most of the players won’t make the final roster as usual.

For me, that group is a massive pile of unwantedness. So I'd rather bring in fresh blood, that might actually develop into something useful.

I don't disagree but when you looked at out situations on offensive line and the secondary both those units desperately needed help.

The entire starting secondary is injury prone and were one injury away from having Dontae Johnson be a starting CB so depth was absolutely vital.

Offensive line had a massive hole at RG and basically 0 quality depth if anyone got injured so bolstering that unit was a must as well.

Not having more depth at WR isn't ideal but it's more survivable than if somebody on the secondary or offensive line went down in their states before the draft.

Richie James as WR3 is a scary thought, but being 1 injury away from Richie James being WR2 is a terrifying thought.

Its not like Deebo or Aiyuk are the great bets to play all 17 games either.

Team really only has 4 reliable pass catchers. Deebo/Aiyuk/Kittle/and Juice. Plus they frequently use Kittle as a blocker, and Juice is obviously a freakin fullback.

That’s your opinion, I don’t agree.

My opinion is that we can’t keep brining in late round WR talent, letting them sit on the practice squad for a year and then deciding that they aren’t useful and doing the same the next year. Which is what you’re suggesting.

I like the idea of Hufanga at linebacker. Good nose for the ball. Makes the right reads, good at the line of scrimmage.

Mitchell has SPEED. Ran in the low 4.3's at his Pro Day.

Actually I'm suggesting that White/Proehl/Cracraft/Sherfield aren't close to NFL caliber players. Sanu and Benjamin have seen far better days. Both Hurd and Jennings are 100% unproven wild cards, and James sucks as a regular WR.

If you aren't bringing in new talent to compete with that motley crue, you're doing something wrong.

Also to extrapolate a bit, 9ers are going to be short on draft picks and cap space next season. So the opportunities to find WR help are not numerous.

Someone has to be on the move, I'd think.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
