i take that back, Jihaad Campbell is still available, maybe we trade up as long as it doesn't cost us anything crazy? i dunno maybe the shoulder thing is a problem.

So far this regime has made 9 first round picks.
They have used 4 of those on the DL.
44% of their 1st rounders were DL picks.

So far this regime has made 5 second round picks, 1 of which was a DL pick.

They also used an additional 2nd round pick to trade for Dee Ford.

I really don't get the sentiment that they don't invest draft capital in the DL.

I would say look at the past 5 years.
We have drafted 4 total in the last 5 years and two were 5th & 6th round

And they gave Armstead a massive contract. Gave Hargrave a massive contract. Traded for Ford and gave him a massive contract. Traded for Collins, traded for Willis, Traded for Young, signed Floyd to a notable free agent contract.

Its pretty clear that DL is the position group they invest the most in.

Do you just want them to go DL in the top 2 rounds every year?

I am strictly talking the draft. Clearly we trade and sign guys and most don't work out, we need to go back to the basics and do it through the draft similar to the Eagles model.

Draft or FA the DL is obviously the one position group we've invested in the most since this regime took over and no other group is close tbh, to be this empty handed on our front seven with that much investment speaks to how badly we've invested, that's just a fact

silver lining is hopefully Mykel breaks the bad streak

My concern is Williams never becomes a good pass rusher in the NFL. Then we are left with another Solly. I guy that can set the edge and run defend but has no pass rushing ability

When you make 4/9 1st round picks on Dlineman you absolutely are doing it through the draft.

BTW, if you want to constantly use high picks on the DL, how do the many other position groups on the team get infusions of higher end young talent?

if Mykel gets to just 10 sacks that'd be a huge coup with his run defense and edge setting

I hate that the Rams were able to get more picks in this draft.

Don't like that trade from a SF standpoint.

Its not hard to envision that Atlanta pick being in the top half of the 1st round. Wouldn't be shocked if its winds up top 10.

OTOH, that division is pretty wide open and not real intimidating. So Atlanta could win the division.

Ugh.

Character and injury concerns on Green and Simmons appear to be legit.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
