Last time the Pats took 2 TEs, that was pretty good for them.

...Until one of 'em murdered somebody.

Reports coming out now that the Lions had an agreement with the Texans on a trade for the 90th pick, but they backed out at the last minute so the Texans quickly took Jonathan Greenard. LOL

TRENT WILLIAMS
T, WASHINGTON REDSKINS

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Redskins LT Trent Williams declined the team's proposed trade to the Vikings.

Vikings added a first-round talent, Ezra Cleveland, to shore up Kirk Cousins' blindside in the second round of Saturday's festivities, leading Williams to reportedly nix any movement to Minnesota in the process. Whether the Vikings have done well in the draft (and they have through two nights) is a moot point as their organization was realistically one of the last remaining suitors for 31-year-old Williams to land with. At this point, it can't be completely thrown out that he steps away from football entirely in 2020. There's no conclusion to report as long as Williams refuses to play for Washington and, on the other end of the spectrum, other franchises refuse to give in to his lucrative demands. He remains up for grabs as one of the best left tackles in all of football.

we just traded for trent williams for a 5th this year and 3rd next year.

So how do we arrange out line with 3 tackles?

does this indicate Staley is retiring?

Joe Staley is clearly retiring, I'd think. No word yet on extension for Williams, may not be. If that's the case with Staley, you get a ready made LT who is familiar with the scheme for 1 year.

If Joe Staley retires we get an extra 10mill to resign Williams or if he leaves we get a Comp 3rd so basically we gave up a 5th for A probowl HoF LT. GMing like a madman =D

Guess I was wrong. I posted yesterday that I thought we could get Williams for a fifth this year and a fourth next year; ended up being a third rounder next year. Hopefully we can manage to keep Lynch and Shanahan busy on day 2 next year unlike this year. Williams and the Niners will still need to negotiate an extension.

Now that Staley is retiring, Jimmie Ward is the longest tenured 49er player
