Haha. Perfect that we signed Mac Jones. Well that's some pressure on Brock. A guy Kyle maybe wanted at three a few years ago.

Mac Jones is honestly trash. We should have signed Cousins.

i hope we still pick up a late rounder flyer at QB, like a Brady Cook or something, with some juice that Kyle can mold.

Haha, Mac Jones? The irony is thick with that one.

If he had to come here I much, Much, MUCH prefer it came this way rather than spending #3 overall on him a few years ago.

In any event, I don't like Jones like at all. He's been a woefully bad NFL QB. He's also kind of a Dbag and has the tendency to be a dirty player. That said, for QB2 you can't really get too upset by the move. Jones is still young enough, that Kyle might be able to mine something of use out of him. Maybe Shanny can turn Mac into the next Chase Daniel, and have a very long career as a backup QB.

Honestly Darnold wasn't much better when he came in, than where Mac is now. However, Darnold had physical tools that Mac would never begin to touch. Mac's strengths were supposed to be above the shoulders, but he sure hasn't reflected that much since entering the league.

Agreed, dump Mordecai for another developmental.

Although, right now the QB room is pretty young. Bringing in a grizzled vet to add to the room, might make some sense. Then carry the developmental guy on the practice squad.

eh, with Purdy/Mac there is enough there in the vet dept, not sure what a 10 year vet would bring to the table imo...i'd rather have an athletic freak like Cook on the roster just to see what happens.

i have zero problems on continuing to take swings on late round QBs every year if we have to, just in case.

Mac showed some nice things his rookie year, then Belichik for some odd fkn reason decided to give him a defensive guy as OC to go along with a pretty talentless roster

not holding my breath on Mac but he's been handed some pretty bad cards so far tbh. i do think his skill set jives pretty well with what Kyle likes to do, at least theoretically, which is why he liked him in the first place it looks like.

I'm not sure we want to rely on anything Mac Jones currently brings to the table.

A vet would help in the film room, with game day prep, and on game day help Brock identify and recognize what defense's are doing and how they are reacting to what the SF offense is doing.

Agree with you on taking late round swings on QB's, especially in a year like this one when the team has a surplus of draft picks.

Cousins is still under contract with the Falcons and latest reports are they don't intend to release him.

You can't trust those AL QBs. They usually play behind studs in the OL and have NFL 1st round WRs separating easily.

Well at least they didn't pay $14 million for Daniel Jones.

Re: this, Darnold said that Purdy helped him a lot in terms of how to prepare for being a QB. I don't know that there's a vet out there who makes sense given that Purdy shows all signs of being effective in those areas. Granted he had Griese to do a lot of that for him, so maybe that changes somewhat this year. But I think the habits have already been ingrained.

Apparently the Niners are signing 39-year old Jon Weeks to replace Pepper. The cost savings for this switch is negligible. So if it isn't about the money, it must be about performance. I don't pretend to be an expert on the science of long snapping, but I don't recall seeing a bunch of punt and field goal snaps sailing over the holder's head. Color me skeptical if the idea is that Moody's failings were all because the "snap was bad" and not the kicker.

FO is probably too embarrassed to already release a kicker they just spent a 3rd rounder on, so they gotta try to put the blame on everyone else ins tead

Wouldn't doubt if his politics on twitter are also a little part of it and fitting in with the team
