Shanahan's updates:

Mostert is having surgery today. Obviously done for the rest of the year.

Moseley also will be having surgery at some point and is done. Was just promoted from the PS yesterday.

The two practice squad guys - Jeff Wilson and Matt Dayes - will be considered to replace Mostert on the active roster and they'll look to the outside as well to fill his spot.

As I noted last night, the guys they worked out weeks ago were Shane Vereen, Charcandrick West, Andre Ellington, Jeremy McNichols, and Matt Dayes. They signed Matt Dayes at the time. For the love of what's right in this world do NOT bring back McNichols. Please.

Will repeat I'm a big fan of Jeff Wilson's as an UDFA/street type guy to try and develop. Brings a different skill set than Mostert did. What Mostert does on STs is probably not going to be matched by anyone they bring in and I don't know if that's what they'll look to try and match in their next move.

Tom Savage went unclaimed on waivers and can be re-signed by the 49ers immediately if they want to bring him back in for practice purposes.

And that's exactly what they did. They brought him back tonight with one of the roster spots opened up by Mostert and Moseley's injuries.
