I don't think Lynch is ready to give up on Thomas yet. It's possible, but it would be a surprise.

I never liked Ogbah that much. He's too stiff. I'd honestly rather see what Thomas could do mainly playing inside.

I'd trade Thomas for Trae Waynes in a second, though. Despite Waynes only having 1 year on his contract left; work out a long-term deal. A move like that would make me want the team not to trade down & rather take Q at 2.

They'd still need a LDE IMO. Armstead is useless.

Almost entirely joking about Ogbah. Though I agree on Waynes.

Tevin Coleman wasn’t on the 49ers’ radar heading into free agency, says John Lynch

I hope not or we'll never get any free agents and we'll trade all our draft picks for vets in their 30s.

Thinking of the draft and now that the NY Giants have #6 and #17. Based on the Jimmy Johnson draft pick trade value chart, # 2 is worth 2600 points and the #6/17 combo is worth 2750. Thoughts on the swap and who would you target? I would love to see a stud LB like one of the Devin's at #6 or one of the stud remaining DEs (Sweat, Allen, etc.) and another playmaker at #17 - TJ Hockensen (TE) is someone I've really enjoyed watching and I know we have Kittles, but remember the Gronk/Hernandez days?
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think

That's a great plan, and I'd target a trade back up for Q. Williams in that scenario. Otherwise, I say just keep trading down for 2020 picks until you get to a reasonable spot to t ake Greedy, Devin White or Christian Wilkins.

Not a big fan of drafting Sweat.

During his rehabilitation Street was unable to run so he bulked up a bit. So much so that he earned the nickname “Baby Hulk” from his teammates.

I mean, I like that he's apparently killing it in the weight room. But he was already on the larger side for a DE. Are we going to have to play him inside now? Does he still have the speed and flexibility to play DE? I'm not sure he did even before bulking up. Still more questions now. It seems like we have about five guys who all fit the same mold of LDE/DT tweener (Thomas, Armstead, Blair, Street, arguably Taylor....). To me, that basically eliminates any of the prototypical base ends from consideration in the draft. We should either go after a guy with pass-rushing potential (Bosa, Burns, maybe Polite in the early rounds), or we should focus on strengthening other areas.

And as I've said before, even though he didn't necessarily fit our scheme/needs, I would have jumped at Maurice Hurst before adding Street.

9. One thing to watch: I’m told that Richard Sherman was at no better than 80% last year, and he only got there after significant improvement in early November, right around when the Niners played the Giants. As such, San Francisco expects a much improved version of the former All-Pro, which would give the roster a boost at a position where Ahkello Witherspoon struggled last year, and Jason Verrett was added last month. Another thing that should help: Sherman had surgery to have sutures, initially put in as part of the rehab process, removed from his heel after the season, and he’s felt a lot better since.

It'd be great if Sherman is closer to his old self next season. He was solid, but not the guy he was pre-injury, and he likely benefited from teams being able to just abuse whoever was lined up on the other side. If Sherman is better and Verrett is actually healthy, our CB situation could be night and day from last season. Big ifs, of course.
