Not sure there was another name LEFT REMAINING out there that I'd have wanted more than him IF you were FORCING me to pick from in UFA. What was left was very unexciting IMO. Heck, what was there at the opening of FA wasn't THAT exciting IMO either.

Now. 1.) A whole bunch of NFL guys I respect have already gotten their chance to work with him and here he still was. Expectations are extremely low as everybody else's will be and should be, too. 2.) It changes next to nothing about what I'd like to see done in the draft for in the interior. Most fans probably will and probably should fall somewhere along those lines, too. 3.) He's coming off offseason knee surgery.

Three disappointing high draft picks battling it out in Tomlinson, Garnett, and Cooper. It'll be a little funny if/when they are beaten out by UDFA Magnuson or a rookie beat them out.

Does he have any experience in a zone blocking scheme like ours?

I love this signing. No down side to it, and he might be a perfect fit for the ZBS. Can at least back up both C and G.

Has played w/ (between) Great OL, so I'm hoping that nasty demeanor and leadership has rubbed off on him. Plus, a 1-year deal is always a good motivator.

1 more FA to go, Johnny! JOHN HANKINS!!! DO IT!!!

He played with Zach Martin and Fredrickson and Smith it aint getting any better then that on our line so he was okay with those guys blocking for Elliot I don't expect that much from him.

But Damn what is Joshua Garntett up to? I'm like please don't have David Shaw do the draft every time he does it the Niners draft somebody from Stanford.

Ndamukong Suh - DL - Free Agent

Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz reports free agent Ndamukong Suh is "intrigued" by the idea of playing on the Rams' defensive line alongside Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers.

ESPN Rams reporter Alden Gonzalez adds that Suh remains in Los Angeles Tuesday evening and is scheduled to have dinner with the Rams tonight. He's expected to visit the Raiders on Wednesday if he makes it out of L.A. without a contract. Schultz also reports Suh "likes" Saints DE Cameron Jordan and wouldn't be opposed to playing alongside him in New Orleans. If Suh wants to win, it would seem the Rams and Saints are his top two suitors to this point.

Shaw is slated to do the draft again. This'll be his 7th draft. The 49ers have drafted Thomas and Garnett since he's been at Stanford. Two players. I think the last player drafted by SF from Stanford prior to those two was...Kwame Harris? Eric Heitmann before that. Nobody else other than those guys since 2000 if memory serves me correctly.

Never saw JH as a guy the 49ers would target. It should sting because I love the guy and the draft write up I had on him was one of my favorite evaluations of all-time but I don't see him as a guy this group of coaches would pursue. I had so much fun watching him. Some of the things he did or was able to do were flat out stupid. He had some of the best explosiveness late in games that I've seen in a long time. It wasn't consistent but it was flat stupid some of the stuff he could do when he was right.

In addition to Allen Hurns, the Cowboys will meet with free agent wide receiver Deonte Thompson, according to sources. Thompson had 38 catches for 555 yards and two touchdowns with the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills in 2017. He had his most success with Buffalo, catching 27 passes for 430 yards in 11 games (seven starts). The Cowboys will have met with four receivers in free agency in Hurns, Thompson, Dontrelle Inman and Justin Hunter.
