Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread
After round one, Niners stack the O Line. I like both picks, would have been nice to get Thomas but oh well. What do yall think.

Re: Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread
I was surprised that we went o-line twice in the first round, but it is our most glaring need.
Today I hope we go after a DB, Mays, Owuso-Ansah, Murphy, or Allen would all be good with me.

I am not sure if I love the Mays pick. He does have a lot of issues. We need a safety who is a ball hawking safety and will help us on the passing game. Mays is athletic but might not be strong against the pass.

Ya I'm concerned because we really needed a FS, not a SS. I'm not sure if Mays can help a ton in coverage.
However he was projected to go top 8 at the start of the year and last year I was hoping we would draft him with our first pick. He's got talent.

Can't really argue with fixing the O-line, but I still wish they'd used one of the firsts on the best defender available. Patrick Willis is the only real star on the team, and I think you should do everything you can to protect your stars. If you start with bad offense, good defense, I lean toward making the defense outstanding rather than marginal improvements to the offense.
Maybe I'd be more enthusiastic if the two nice new blockers were protecting someone other than Alex Smith.

This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

What do you guys think of Navorro Bowman. Some draft magazines have him as the top outside linebacker. Any one know why he fell. I would have liked probably going cornerback since we do not have a fourth or fifth round pick and we need young cornerbacks.

Bowman fell due to his off field trouble. He got in a fight at his school, and was also got in trouble with some weed use.

Yea Bowman is a stoner and an idiot off the field, but if there is any team he could go to and get those problems resolved it would be SF with Big Mike on the sidelines.

What I don't get is what happens to our mid tier OLBs already on roster? Lawson, Brooks, Moore, and Haralson are already basically rotating in and out on the OLB spots. Immediately Bowman is above McKillop and I think his talent puts him above Haralson so I don't see this as a horrible addition.
Remember guys, Brooks was a guy with HORRIBLE character before he came to the Niners. His character was so bad that he dropped out of the second round into the supplementary draft...to the Bengals! IMO he was our third most important LB last year despite all that.
I think Mike breaks it down to them like this: you can succeed in SF at the LB spot if you don't F around. He's gonna give everyone a fair shake but he doesn't tolerate BS after he's given you a chance. Look at VD and Crabtree. Crab was acting like a damn fool before he signed the contract, but Sing didn't care, that was his one chance.
FWIW Sing did have a face to face interview with Bowman and said the 15 minutes of convo really surprised him.

I think Bowman will be in the rotation for SF. Before last season he was a projected 1st rounder.
