OT NFC west vs rest of the league

As the playoffs approach there is more and more talk about how the winner of the NFC west doesn't deserve the playoffs if they dont reach an 8-8 record. Every announcer i've heard during our games have brought this point up over the last three weeks and I think it's just interesting there hasn't been any moaning about the AFC south. The South is currently led by a 7-5 jacksonville who could easily lose out, a shadow of their former selves Colts at 6-6, and a lackluster 5-7 Texans. A one win difference and somehow I haven't heard a single thing from the chumps at ESPN about this. Its absolutely rediculous that just because Peyton Manning is in the division they are exempt from criticism. The Colts just lost to the garbage Cowboys. It's getting to the point where the East-Coast bias is getting to be rediculous. These experts are pathetic and i hope they realize that they know as little as my 14 years old little sister.

There are a couple of reasons why the Colts are seen as "better" than the Niners. For one, Peyton Manning is managing to win games even though his offense has had serious issues this year. Addai, Collie and Clark are all out of the picture. You're right, the Colts aren't what they were last year, but although I have faith in my Niners, I haven't met very many people who feel the Niners could manage a win over the Colts. Second, the reason why the AFC South gets more credibility than the NFC West, is because the number one seed in the AFC South is 7-5. The number one seed in the NFC West are two teams tied for 6-7. Having a team with a losing record making the playoffs when the 9-4 Ravens are fighting for a playoff spot is the reason why so many announcers are calling question to it. As long as the number one seed in the NFC West has an 8-8 record, I think the controversy will die down. I think a losing record making a playoff appearance is what most people don't want to see. Hopefully, Alex Smith will step up this week against the Chargers and pull out an 8-8 record to make the playoffs, but I can understand how other teams get upset when they see teams with better records (and presumably better teams) not making the playoffs when other teams with sub-par records do not.
