Trent Baalke

I was wondering what people thought of Trent Baalke as our general manager since what most people think is that he will be hired as our general manager. My brief opinion is that he does not have enough experience or contacts to be the general manager. The gm is crucial for us this year as many things need to be done like hire a new front staff, new coach and coordinators, get a quarterback, and also get plenty of other players. I would prefer a gm with experience and who can help persuade a solid coach to come to SF.

I only hear bad things. I think we needed fresh blood...or new owners.

I think they needed new blood also...problem is, Jed York doesnt know how to run an NFL franchise. If they wanted to change the culture outside hire was the way to go.

I was unhappy with the GM position to Trent Baalke but we landed Harbaugh, so that is one right move. We just have to judge him based on his decisions he makes since we don't have a lot to go off of. Hopefully he surprises us positively.

I agree. I feel like we settled on one of the most important positions. Baalke has total control of the roster. I don't think that is a wise decision for a first time GM who is as young as he is. I could also see this causing conflict with a young first time coach.

Inexperienced GM + inexperienced coach = trouble

I like both Baalke and Harbaugh individually, but not together...reminds me of Matt Millen and Marty Mornhinwheg in Detroit. It's a very bad idea to have both your GM and head coach learning how to do their jobs in the NFL at the same time. Baalke would have been much better served to bring in an experienced coach. Harbaugh has never even been an assistant in the NFL. I greatly respect his family pedigree but still...
