Time to trade Crabtree?

I'm getting the feeling that Michael Crabtree isn't going to be that guy we all hoped he would when we drafted him.

It seems like he's going to be one of those guys that has all the potential and skills, but because of injuries, lack of work ethic or whatever isn't going to make good on them.

Would SF be smart to trade him sooner rather than later in hopes of getting what they can out of him, is it too late for that, or am I alone in thinking that he probably won't live up to the hype?
What should the 49ers realistically expect to get in such a trade?

I'm not sure its smart to trade him right now. I think he still has enough potential to keep him around. In my opinion a trade would not get us a whole lot. I think he has more value sticking around but he is disappointing.

I don't see this potential you guys are talking about. He isn't a large physical reciever and he doesn't have amazing speed either. If he had great hands it would be his only saving grace, but he hasn't shown us that yet. I don't even think we could get anything decent for him.

I agree somewhat, but let's not forget: He hasn't had a QB who can throw it to him consistently and apparently we like to run the ball into brick walls over and over putting us in 3rd and longs every damn possession.

I'd like to see what he can do with a better QB and an offense that will give him the ball.

It might also help if he wasn't such a whiner and had come to the offseason workouts that the rest of the team were doing. QB's and receivers need chemistry and Crabtree bashing Smith during the lockout was just dumb.

Tough call on Crabtree, but hey if we could get something decent for him I would. He does have the assets to become a better reciever (long arms, big hands, strength), but he always get injured. He just dropped a very catchable ball from Smith against Cincy right now. If we give Smith 7 seasons, we can't give up on crabtree just yet.
