Saints @ 49ers

Just figured it's time to start talking about the game since it's our biggest game in 10 years. What do you think of our chances? Best offense vs best defense. Saints terrible defense vs our average offense. We have the special teams advantage.

I am worried about the Saints, but watching the Detroit vs. Saints game makes me less worried. Which sounds crazy since the Saints dominated on offense even setting records. The Lions were able to march up the field at times so I think we can score a decent amount of points.
Stopping the Saints offense is the real question. The Lions though clearly have a way worse defense. They could not tackle (which the 49ers are ranked number one), they got beat often in the secondary, and allowed Sproles to dominate. We have way more playmakers in defense and have the guys who can cover a guy like Sproles (at least as much as possible). Willis and Bowman are great linebackers in the sense that they can cover guys like Graham and Sproles. The Lions missed a lot of interceptions which we have been good at.
Overall I think this game will come down to whether or not we can capitalize on those red zone chances. We will limit the Saints so that they don't score as much. We will be able to create enough scoring opportunities because of the Saints defense. The question that I believe will make the win or loss is whether those points are field goals or touchdowns.
Go 49ers!!!!!!

I agree with all of that. I just want to add that if we commit to the run then that also helps our defense. The longer our offense holds on to the ball the less chances Brees will get. If we can make them play with a little desperation, Brees is more likely to make mistakes.

Just went over to the general NFL talk thread . . . just got me mad. No respect for the Niners. I hope we blow the Saints out.

Let's hope the Saints are taking our Niners as lightly as everyone else is.
As I said on the NFL GB, it's looking a lot like 1981 all over again. That should make you feel a little better
