Source: Brandon Jacobs To Sign With 49ers

Post#1 » by Nicky Nix Nook » Wed Mar 28, 2012 10:31 pm

ESPN.com - The 49ers agreed to a one-year contract with former Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, a league source said Wednesday.

Jacobs is the second former Giant to join the 49ers this offseason, following receiver Mario Manningham, who signed a two-year contract last week.

Well I've always liked how Jacobs has run the ball. I just don't want this to affect Hunter's carries too much. Gore/Hunter is a good thunder/lightning combo. Jacobs provides a new dynamic, though. Dixon can say goodbye to the few touches he had last season.

What do you think?

I cant stand Jacobs. I understand why they would go after him to add depth, take away some early season carries from Gore and add some size to the backfield but he doesnt convert on a lot of short yardage plays and does a lot of tip toeing as well. Add in the fact that he's a loudmouth and from what I've seen a jerk. Harbaugh is getting a nutty locker room with Moss, Cox and Jacobs.

Well I did see a stat that he actually didn't convert a lot of short yardage stuff last year which scares me. I think it's a good pick though. Dixon was supposed to be the big bruiser type and he dances too much. Hopefully he can help us on 3rd downs and red zone situations. Might keep God a little healthier near the end of the season.
Assuming Dixon won't make the roster now, although we might want 4 RB's to keep Gore healthy and he was a valuable special teams player.

Im interested in brining him in. This should help keep gore a little bit more healthy and last an entire season.
