There should be a lot of activity in this first round. My gut says Fleener with the first.

Well, a lot of people said Aldon Smith was a reach last year

I hate that the Cowboys got Claiborne.

Yeah, I know. I just don't understand going for a WR in the first round after getting Moss and Manningham in the off season. Plus we have Williams, Ginn and Crabtree already.

Don't get me wrong, I was definitely scratching my head--still am.
That also significantly hurts any chances of drafting Devon Wylie

I figured we would go G in the first round and WR in the 3rd or 4th, definitely not in the 1st after our offseason.

I give this pick a C- (only reason it wasn't a straight up F was because I think Harbaalke deserve the benefit of the doubt after picking Aldon last year)
Hard to justify picking a Jenkins when 1) OG was clearly our most pressing need and 2) there were almost certainly going to be similar quality WRs available at the end of the 2nd when we pick again (Hill, Randle, Sanu, Jeffrey, etc. are all still on the board). I can understand not wanting Hill because he's a development project but why not Martin, Glenn, Adams, Konz, Silatolu, etc.?
Hopefully we can pick up some value on Day 2, because we reached pretty far with this pick.

Yeah, I'm not liking this pick.
Not due to position, because Frisco definitely still needs WR help. We all know Crabs leaves some to be desired, and even on his best day he is a #2. Manningham has never been more than a #3 receiver, and he is prone to sizeable periods of invisibility. Moss is on the wrong side of 35, and his skillset does not match up with Alex's game at all. Oh yeah, and he is still Randy Moss so who the hell knows where his head will be at. Still wouldn't surprise me in the least if Moss doesn't make the final roster. Ted Ginn is a terrible WR. Kyle Williams is ok, but ok isn't going to win you many games. Plus it remains to be seen how he responds after his double catastrophic NFC championship game.
So, WR wasn't a bad direction to take just not with this guy. Stephen Hill has the far better upside, but I can understand not taking him because he is really raw and this team has aspirations of winning now. It wouldn't be hard to make an argument that Randle/Sanu/Jeffrey or even Brian Quick being better options.
I also heard that Minnesota contacted Frisco about moving into #30, in exchange for #33 + extra incentive but Frisco declined. If thats true, that is a very questionable decision. If Jenkins was indeed Baalke's guy all along ok whatever, but he still would have been there at #33 anyways. That makes the pick even more undesirable.
Also, OL needs to be addressed. With the way the board was looking with Frisco on the clock its easily arguable that OL was the best course of action there. Cordy Glenn would have been a good pick there.
But at least the pick wasn't Fleener. I would have loathed that pick. TE is far from a concern for this team. True this team runs quite a bit of 2 TE sets, but don't get that confued with the type of sets New England runs. For what Frisco does, Delanie Walker is fine as the second TE. Fleener definitely has more upside than Walker, but by all accounts Fleener can't block to save his life. He would have been a terrible fit for the 9ers. Its pretty telling that Harbaugh passed on him, when he was allegedly percieved as potential BPA.
Now its time for some second round magic.

FWIW, Baalke believed that St. Louis was going to take Jenkins at #33 (Minnesota has #35) so if AJ really was "his guy," he didn't think he could trade down and still get him. That being said, I don't see what about Jenkins puts him head and shoulders above (or even equal to) guys that we could have chosen from at #35 - Randle/Sanu/Jeffrey/Quick etc. (leaving Hill off the list because I don't think they wanted a project).

I think WR is still a huge need. Moss probably will be useless just based on his past few years. Crabtree and Manningham are good but not great. Therefore upgrading our receiving corps is important. I also think in many ways Jenkins is better than the other receiving options. Hill is a project and doesn't have as good of movement as Jenkins. Sanu and Jeffrey are good but they both don't have great seperation skills. Quick is also a major project since he played at a small school and struggled at the senior bowl. Randle is pretty good and it seems like it was just personal preference between Randle and Jenkins.
Also I really like that this receiver has good separation skills because last year our receivers sucked at that.
We can get a starting caliber guard in round two now so I am not worried about us ignoring that position.

Yeah, can't say I understand our picks so far. First, we get a WR in a crowded WR corp of Crabtree, Moss, Manningham and Williams. Now with our 2nd pick, we get a RB in a crowded RB corp of Gore, Hunter and Jacobs. Doesn't make sense. We desperately need some G help and we haven't addressed it yet?

First pick confused me but i don't mind the Lamichael James pick, Jacobs will be gone after the season and Gore isn't getting any younger, + already gets injured frequently.

Good trades today, really liked how we moved down 3 times but still got our man (a G/C).

We drafted 3rd down conversions and red zone touchdowns. I like the picks.

Our #1 need was a WR who could lengthen the field. How could that pick confuse you
