Believes surgery is not guaranteed but will be an option. Cited Trent Williams trying to play through the same injury. Others can not. Says the best case scenario is "they relocate the patella and it WILL be weeks before he returns." It will "swell like crazy and he will not play next week. It may be 4 weeks." Even if he avoids surgery now, he'll "probably have to have offseason surgery to fix it." Didn't rule out season being over.

He just posted more of his thoughts after the patella dislocation confirmation. You can check out his website for the long paragraph but he believes they'll "go the safer route" and have him have surgery which means a minimum six to nine month recovery.

So basically he’s going on IR, right - season is over?

Mike Garafolo is reporting this morning that a number of coaches on Herm Edwards' Arizona State staff will get looks for positions in the NFL this year following the job they're doing there:

Derek Hagan - ASU alum. Former Dolphin, Giant, Bill, and Raider. Current offensive analyst (one of three on staff).

Kevin Mawae - current quality control analyst. One season as a Chicago Bears assistant offensive line coach. Former NFLPA executive committee member. Assistant coach in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Will definitely interview well but I know he's been very dedicated to being an active participant with his family.

Antonio Pierce - current LBs coach/recruiting coordinator. Former ESPN analyst (not very good). Always felt like his personality might rub a LOT of owners the wrong way (as a HC candidate one day) but he's VERY well liked in the media so he'll continue to get pushed there. Has 7 kids. Runs a free football camp in the Long Beach/Compton area for underprivileged youth kids. Has a bunch of other community awards.

Marvin Lewis - current special advisor. Enough said about his history. Still VERY well liked by many in the media and in football circles.

Mawae is the most intriguing to me if Lewis is ONLY going to take HC interviews.

QB Deshone Kizer
WR Tyrell Williams
TE Derek Carrier
RG Gabe Jackson
DT Johnathan Hankins

Those would be the 5 players I'd ask about first. Williams, Jackson, and MAYBE Hankins could be tough to get away for different reasons. Tyrell because he's so unique, especially for them and they committed quite a bit to him. Gabe Jackson for similar reasons as Tyrell but probably even more enhanced than that and you don't give away OL like him that easily. Hankins' range is harder to gauge. Harder to tell what THEY think of him and his position makes it even harder considering what they want back already.

I'm not going to be the guy that throws around stupid trade scenarios in this instance, especially with players who probably have little chance of being moved BUT if I were a GM, THOSE would ABOUT be the only guys I'd have an interest in off their roster.

Ravens TE Mark Andrews (vs. Seattle) has been targeted 7 times today - he's caught 2 balls. I don't know how many of the 7 he SHOULD have caught because I haven't been able to focus in on the game but I've seen him miss 3 balls he should have caught and at least 1 of them was a TD.

He's taking days off my lifespan.

D.K. Metcalf fumbles near the sideline. Somehow the ball didn't roll out even with D.K. trying to kick it out, Humphrey with the scoop and score. Humphrey went out of bounds and then REESTABLISHED himself with two steps before touching the ball so that he could be the first one to touch the ball. BIG time play.

Seahawks about to be 5-2.

Not surprising, considering his junk-grabbing history.

Saints CB Eli Apple injured in absolute garbage time with under 1 minute to go in a blowout (worse than the scoreboard shows). Was in a lot of pain with his hands over his eyes laying on the ground. Just slipped on the grass while defending a pass. They didn't show how he got off the field other than saying he was helped off the field and went to the locker room.

PFF's 16th graded CB this year so far.

Bears have recovered back-to-back onside kicks in this one. It's next to impossible to recover an onside anymore and the Bears have just done it twice. Well, I guess EVERYTHING can't go right for you in a game. Still down 11.

Teams were 0 of 15 entering this week trying to recover onside kicks this season and the Bears did it on back-to-back attempts.

Nevermind. The latest recovery did not count upon review. Recovering player did not re-establish himself in time before he grabbed the ball.

That was maybe the worst fumble I've ever seen. Glad a Seahawk did it.
