Giants cut Bradshaw and Umenyiora...would the latter be a good option for us? He's kinda an idiot, and is more of a 4-3 DE, but I can't imagine he'll have a ton of suitors. I'd be wary based on the last Giant we took on.

As for Bradshaw, where does he land? He's good when he plays, but man he's an injury magnet. Maybe platooning on some team would help him, but where?

Also, lol at Boldin. Dude's been in Baltimore for 3 years and already acting like he has a lifelong commitment to them. You're still a hapless Cardinal to me Anquan

NFL considering a wider field...thoughts?

What's wrong with the field as it is? Like they say, if it ain't broken, don't break it.

They want to limit big hits in the middle of the field. I think this, and taking out kickoffs, are idiotic ideas.

I'll second that. One of my favorite things about playing football is getting a big hit.

Football players are grown men and can make their own decisions. Educate the players on the potential damage the NFL can inflict on you, both short and longterm, and if they decide to play (and get paid quite handsomely), that's their decision.

Ya...this comes down to their salaries IMO. I understand some adjustments, but when we start playing sarcastaball (anybody see that south park episode?) while paying people millions to do it, something is seriously wrong.

Stars seem to be aligning for the Niners this offseason. Our biggest needs are a starter level CB and a couple WR complements to Crabtree.

Johnny Knox just got cut and I expect Wright (CB for the Buccs) and Talib (former CB for the Buccs) to get cut soon. Both are capable of playing the CB2 role, and if we decide to go a different direction there's plenty safety and CB hep available in the draft.

Something I thought up: Where will Matt Flynn land?

They paid him a reasonable deal, then sat him for Russy. I think he could help out a ton of teams.

Knox is done. Chicago has long been starved for WR help, and they terminated his cheap contract. That should tell you all you need to know. Dude had a an injury that literally almost crippled him. He has lost a lot of his athleticism and speed. With his diminuitive frame athleticism and speed were definitely his best attributes. Its sad and I feel bad for the guy and hope I'm wrong, but there isn't anything to work with there.

Talib isn't getting cut, he's simply a free agent. He has great skills, but has a well earned reputation of not bringing intensity, passion, or desire onto the field. He also has a laundry list of off field issues, some serious. He also wants a monster deal. Wright is ok, but there is probably a reason why the Browns, Lions, and Bucs have all moved on from him the last couple years. All those teams have well known issues in the secondary, yet still didn't feel it necessary to retain him. I'd steer far clear of Talib, and only look at Wright if he comes on the very cheap.

As for the wider field, all that is gonna do is make things even easier for the offense and harder on the defense. The rules are aleady extremely offense friendly. Thats just a mass amount of additional field the defense needs to worry about covering. Would further expose teams with suspect secondaries and teams with weaker WR corps wont be able to take as much of an advantage. Both categories where Frisco falls into.

I think Wright will be dirt cheap, but Talib will be expensive. However, I'm a big fan of his.

I'm curious as to why you are so in favor of going after Talib, but don't seem to be real keen on making a run at Revis.

I know you mentioned age in regards to Revis. But Revis is less than a year older than Talib.

Talib is also going to want a huge deal, as well as Revis does. Talib also has a history of being disinterested on the field and not bringing intensity. So I can certainly see Talib simply going through the motions, if he doesn't get the $ he wants. Intensity and focus is not a concern with Revis. When he is on the field Revis alwyays brings it.

Talib also has a laundry list of off field problems and lockerroom issues. He has had a couple major off field things, including serious crimes. None of this is a concern with Revis.

Is it the draft pick compensation it would take to get Revis, or the injury? In those regards Frisco has 15 overall picks, and 5 in the top 93. So they certainly have picks they can part with, they will need to part with picks anyways as there is no where near 15 available roster spots up for grabs. As for the injury, I'm sure frisco would give him a complete medical evaluation prior to completing a trade. Also recent history, this year, has shown that players not only can come back to full strength off that type injury but they can come back better than ever.

I would gladly pay Revis as much as $8 mil more a season, than I would Talib. Honestly, I really don't even want anything to do with Talib. But thats just me.

I'm fine with Revis. Talib would be much cheaper, and I find taller CBs interesting. Not really leaning one way or another, just like what I've seen from Talib.

KC franchises Brendan Albert in a surprising move, at least for me anyway. A lot of rumors in the last few weeks about them not tagging Albert and going after Joeckel at #1. Hard to read on who the new favorite to go #1 is, could be a DL(Floyd/Richardson) or maybe Dee Milliner?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is really worthy of its own thread or if it is covered in another thread, but I got the idea from the separate Draft thread. I thought it might be worth having a thread purely for free agency and trade rumors, suggestions and analysis. For example I got an alert on my phone this morning saying that apparently we've been one of five teams looking into Cleveland's Josh Cribbs as a free agent target. I'll post the link at the end of this post. Now I've heard of this guy, but I don't really know anything about him other than that he is a WR and return guy. What's he like as a WR? Strengths? Weaknesses? How good a returner is he? What's his reputation for attitude, behavior, personality, etc?

Yeah, I heard Frisco was interested in Cribbs also. He is basically only a returner, he is a terrible WR. If you are even remotely relying on him to play WR, your receiving corps is in seriously dire straits. Devin Hester is a better WR than Cribbs is, and Hester isn't good at all. Other than special teams the only thing Cribbs can provide you is an occassional nice gain on a carry out of a wildcat type formation. But when he comes on the field, the defense pretty much knows thats what the play is going to be. He was an elite return man, but lately he has just been above average. He will be 30 years old when the season starts, so his speed is only going to decline. That said, I wouldnt mind picking him up because the return game can use some help, but I wouldn't pay him very much.

The only actual free agent visits the team has made or hosted that I have heard about is Cullen Jenkins and John Abraham. Both are DL guys, so that could be an indication that Baalke feels he can upgrade the DL without using high draft picks.

As for trades, Revis is the only substantiated reported consideration to trade for. Harvin has been mentioned, but that is based largely upon team need and the available draft picks at its disposal. I have yet to hear anything concrete from anybody associated with the team regarding Harvin.

Well Cullen Jenkins is no longer an option. He signed a 3 year/8 mil contract with the Giants. For that price, he would have been a solid pickup for Frisco.
