Good deal.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

I like it just for the headline theft from the Harvin deal. It'll also be nice to have a deep threat for Kaep given his arm. Plus he could be a good teacher for whatever his name his from last year's draft (first rounder).

This smells fishy. Why did want to give him up for a 6th rounder in the first place. Maybe the Ravens know something that we don't.

cause they're not going to pay him and he is planning to walk. Ravens is lucky to get something better than nothing.

Ravens felt Boldin is worth less and asked him for a paid cut, but they gave all their money to Flaco. LOL...

So cool...Kaep is going to love him

For a sixth rounder?? Crazy to me...I think he has at least 2 more good years

He was pretty good throughout the playoffs making tough jump ball catches. He can block like a mo fo too. Having two guys who can go up and get it like him and Crabtree can open things up. Now go and get a damn CB!!

Maybe Jim still wouldn't talk to John and this was the only way he'd forgive him.

This deal has salary cap all over it and basically we get rid of Alex Smiths 8 mil for Boldins 7.5 mil at a position of need....perfect fit for us.,..we needed a tough gritty reciever for a tough gritty team.....I'd love for us to grab Ed Reed if we lose Goldson.

Imagine what it will be like for opposing defenses to try and deal with Boldin and Davis on the same field, with Crabtree out there lurking with the possibility of Gore and Kaep sneaking out of the backfield. A real nightmare and probably even more unstoppable than they were this year on O.

Now if we just bundle a couple of our draft picks and move up and snag a decent cornerback the defense will be just as good. I'd probably prefer to keep Goldston (we can just tag him again) over Reed (younger and Reed won't be any less expensive) and get someone in the draft now that we have some extra picks from the Smith trade I believe.

Just keep inching towards that Superbowl victory. Just a little bit further to go. With Boldin, I wonder if we bring Manningham back.

IBTL...

Watch one of those NFL/49ers forum mod lock this sucker up AGAIN.

Anyways. As good a trade as Seahawks got. This is better. A 6th rounder for Bolden and still have a 1st to draft for another upgrade... or Revis.

I rather have "lets say" Revis/Bolden than just Harvin. But that is just me.

Great trade, but I expect this thread to get locked just like our last (super active and interesting) Niners thread.

Corner back and defensive line depth is what I'm looking for with our other picks

Had a terrible year, hence being cut, but I wouldn't mind seeing Nmandi back in the Bay if the price is right.

Would have to be very cheap. By all accounts from Eagles fans he was absolutely atrocious and only blamed everyone else for his poor play.

Supposedly he struggled in every type of coverage and especially struggled covering guys downfield (perhaps he's lost a step or two).

If we can get Sean Smith at a good price, (probably means we lose Rodgers) that would be a great signing

I think the Hawks made a bad move (2-3 years dow the road) to be honest. They invested a lot of money in a position that needed an upgrade, but not in such a way that they needed a guy who will demand as much as Harvin. Harvin is great when healthy, but he misses games for EVERYTHING. Migraines, gets nicked up every week. Plus his game is based more on speed than anything which is not going to improve as he gets older.

Biggest thing though is that this team does not have a ton of cap space, has 4 guys in their secondary who are getting paid pennies for their impact and will want to be paid well (top 5 money for their position when talking about Sherman and Thomas) and a QB who will not want to play for a 3rd round rookie wage scale much longer when he's being asked to scramble and run as many option plays as Wilson does.

Plus the places they need to upgrade are the trenches (especially OG). We saw how it worked for the Eagles when they spent all their money on skill positions while ignoring the interior of their line (Okung is great but a top flight guard is MUCH more important for a small QB like Wilson - see Carl Nicks and Jahri Evans in New Orleans and how Nicks leaving affected Brees).

Boldin for free (basically swapped Alex and a 6th for Boldin and an early 2nd  Baalke is such a boss) for a vet who is one of the best blocking WRs in the league, a great possession WR still and a great influence and hard worker. If Jenkins progresses and can be the down field guy to help take the top off a defense with Vernon, Boldin, Crabs and Gore/Hunter/James will abuse teams underneath.

Harvin is a premiere gadget receiver and returner. His biggest plays this past season were on screens, not deep passes or curl routes.

Yeah but the migraine thing is real, so I expect him to miss a few games for that reason.

I like our deal because we grabbed one of the toughest guys in the NFL and another leader.

I hate the idea of losing Goldson.

You better believe that harbaugh is all up in Jenkins' a$$....they need him to progress and become that downfield threat.

It will also be interesting to see how the Niners use both James and Hunter at running back next year...I think we might see more slot options from James just to get him on the field.

I'm absolutely amazed at Gore...Running backs are not supposed to last in this league like he has...truly amazing.

Also look for CJ Spiller to make a move into more playing time.

Exactly he's an elite weapon but you can pay guys like Sproles half the money to play that role.

If I'm paying a WR top 5 money, I want a guy who can be a possession WR, be above average in blocking, can make big plays, grab jump balls and hold onto the ball after taking big hits. There's not a ton of them in the league and guys who aren't top 5 will force teams to pay them top 5 money but I don't think Seattle was in such a dire need to upgrade WR that they needed to make such a risky move.

Rodgers covering Harvin in the slot could be a disaster waiting to happen though.
