I'm pretty stoked about it because the more versatile beef we have on the DL, the more explosive and stout they are.
Tank, Cowboy, Dial, Ray Ray, Williams...and now Dorsey. That is a pretty good 3-4 rotation of strength, power, and athleticism. Assuming it was team friendly like Dorsey's first contract, I don't see a downside to this signing at all. The guy's only 29 and this deal takes him to 32 when the deal expires.

No numbers yet. I doubt it's very much.

I would like to know the numbers before passing judgement but I imagine it will be a pretty good deal.

http://ninercaphell.com/2014/08/20/comp ... extension/According to ESPN.com’s Field Yates, 49ers NT Glenn Dorsey received a $2.075 million signing bonus up front, and $500,000 of his $2.3 million base salary for 2014 is guaranteed.
Dorsey has base salaries of $1.5 million in 2015, and $1.8 million in 2016.
He also has $200,000 roster bonuses, tied to the active game-day roster, along with $100,000 workout bonuses in both 2015, and 2016.
Dorsey can also earn a $250,000 bonus for reaching the pro bowl, and has incentives of $500,000 for playing in 65% or more of the defensive snaps in a season.

Wow! That was like stealing.
Now all SF needs to do is extend Culliver & Iupati, and they'll be set for the year.

Great signing IMO. Especially with not knowing if Ian Williams can return to pre injury form.
Classic signing from the front office.

Dorsey might have been the biggest surprise from last year, considering he originally lost out to Williams in camp for the NT job. I hope he is able to come back later this season.

Umm... We already have a thread on Dorsey from last year. Someone needs to merge them.
Just kidding. One site we tried merged everything into SuperThreads.

I'm not so sure he lost out to
Ian Williams so much as the Niners wanted to play
Dorsey at end. He moved to NT by necessity, and he ended up playing even better
there IMO.

That was so irritating. I mean, I'm sure at times it was convenient, but like once a month. And a pain the rest of the time.
