What did people think of him? He was thrown into the fire and broke up a big pass I remember people raving abot him and Aker duing camp. Do you think the 49ers have something there?

He looked good in coverage for the most part.. He looks like he has the size and ability to be a good corner.

I thought he played really well, particularly when he got to play up tight to the line.

I thought he played well. Gave up a garbage time TD but was great other than that.

Considering he got thrown into the deep end of the pool during a game, I am pleased with his performance.

That being said, we need to generate a decent pass rush to help the back end out.

All things considered, being a rookie thrown into the fire unexpectedly, he did great! After seeing Brock get abused as much as he did to start the game, I wouldn't mind giving Johnson some PT to see what he can do.

This last draft IMO, was amazing. Just look at yesterday's performance by some rooks. Ward, Hyde, Johnson, Lynch. Wish we would have saw Ellington more but ohh well. Then you have Marcus Martin who I believe didn't give up a single pressure in preseason. Brandon Thomas out for year but very promising guard. A lot of impact already from these guys and a promising future.

Looked very good as some have pointed out. Being tossed in like and really didn't miss a beat. He made some good plays in breaking up passes.

Garbage TDs mean nothing.... He was good all game and certainly backed up what many of us were excited about with him.

Marcus Martin is hurt RV but I agree with the rest of your sentiment.

His performance was very misleading IMO. He was asked to do his job and he did just that (not let anyone get behind you, and instead give all the underneath stuff). Dallas was not patience in going for the short passes that we were giving them. We dropped a lot of our guys in coverage and didn't do much blitzing. Johnson had a specific task and executed his assignment very well.

However, I did pick up the fact that he was playing very hesitant and had he been playing against a much better receiver as opposed to Terrance Williams, he would have gotten eaten up alive IMO. I'm not bashing his performance but I don't think he showed great instincts, he wasn't able to get off his back pedal as fast as I would have liked. By the way I liked all of our DBs that we had drafted in May - all of us did if I remember correctly. From the onset I suspected that at least 2 of them (between Acker, Reaser, and Johnson) would eventually become starters for us within 3 years time. What happened to Reaser? Is he injured? Or was that Acker?

He had a great play where he came back and broke the pass up.

Ya reaser is basically a red shirt injury.

Technically you could say Acker might be as we'll. His injury was kinda out of nowhere in the last preseason game. They IR'D him.

Future can be very bright for that position.

I thought he did respectable considering the circumstances, Bingo. Albeit, he was beat for a TD later in the game, although the defense did play off during the final moments of the game.

The better competition is on the way, and although the Niners did admirable against Dallas' offense, a better offensive unit should give a better litmus test for the defense.
