If you like mediocre QB play, you're gonna love every second of this game.

Even if the QBs are mediocre, I liked watching the game last night with all the formations and plays. Defense, too. Our defense is fun to watch, too.

I know a lot of people are planning to go dressed in khakis and a black sweatshirts and chant Harbaugh to show support for him. Also, a **** Deion chant might be planned too.

I like how you think.

Needless to say, this a must win game for the niners in terms of keeping pace with the Cards n Seahawks as well as Philly n Dallas along with Carolina and the NFC North... LOL

through 4 weeks, this race is tight!

This is why I am so pissed about blowing leads. They should be 4-0 right now and have put themselves in a **** situation. Still have a lot of tough games.

Not worried about the Cards, they'll lose this week to Denver and start to come falling back to the Earth. Seattle will whoop on Washington this week, Dallas will beat the Texans and the Panthers/Bears play so one of them will be 2-3 after Sunday. I still think the Saints will win the division anyways.

AJ Jenkins to start:

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2014 ... ot+Read%29

We should stack up pretty well against their offense. Culliver and Cox excel at covering bigger guys like Bowe, and Smith isn't one to force balls into coverage, so Culliver's absolute lack of ball skills should be minimized. I'd strongly consider doubling Kelce. He may be their biggest weapon in the passing game this week.

Can we see if we can go a game without getting Carrier hit in the head? He takes one every game, including the Eagles game, where this time it wasn't from a Kaepernick throw, but rather from him running for YAC.

If the Niners limit the penalties, they should win this game quite handily. Surprised to see this much of a lack of discipline with Harbaugh as the coach. He is obviously having a struggle of power over in the locker room

Because of some bull illegal contact penalties, the emphasis to hands to the face killing Brooks and some questionable calls about hitting guys too hard (Dial on Cutler, Willis on every Cardinal) it's a sign of a power struggle. . . in the locker room? Is it players or assistant coaches challenging Harbaugh? And exactly how big was the chasm you leaped over to come to the conclusion above?

With the Chiefs coming off a big win, flying across the country, and on a short-week...I like our chances. Hope the oline gets their sh*t together. Defense should have a good template of how to beat Alex Smith with their familiarity with him, but he'll also know some of the defense's tendencies.

I'm going to this game, so sure hope they pull off the W!

on paper its a #...

but for people who watch the game, yes there are some legit calls but there's plenty of rubbish calls, as IMAC pointed out, the roughing the passers BS, the illegal contact which is league wide a joke but I wonder if Seattle gets called, phantom illegal screens etc....

Pressure Alex... Pressure him.... can we do that with the front four we normally deploy? well maybe not after halftime so hopefully some blitzes will be used...

or a Tank... whichever.

There was a statistic out there two years ago saying that Smith was one of the better quarterbacks against the blitz/pressure. Someone, correctly or incorrectly, explained that by saying that more blitzing meant less coverage downfield. Since Smith does not have that strong of arm strength for velocity but is pretty smart/fast decision-maker, the fewer people in the secondary is good for him. Also, not worrying about making the big play and getting the check down, helped get rid of the ball. That prevented any bad stats on pressures. Plus, he took some sacks that did not affect his rating. I'm not sure if that statistics showing that he was good against pressure was passer rating or otherwise.

Obviously, if you can pressure him with the normal number of personnel (4 like you said), then any quarterback is worse with pressure than not because the coverage is the same.

I think the main key to shutting him down is to play fundamental defense and not give him any freebies. Force him to make tough decisions and he'll eat sacks or throw the ball away. Don't give him any easy checkdowns, and don't allow WR's to break open over the middle. Force him to make tight passes to the sidelines. Can load up the box sporadically to take the RB out of the game. He feels the most pressure when the defense is solid and forcing him to make a play.

I thought he loved to do this. Isn't left more difficult? (Assuming you are not going to throw across the field like Kaepernick did to Gorr - where going left gives you the whole field on your right side).
