Kilgore and Cook were placed on IR today. Ventrone was again signed (the two step between JJ and Ventrone is no longer possible starting next week with the trade deadline).
Presumably the second spot created is for #99.

Great; now
Cook is on IR. The worst position on the team got even worse.
If a CB hits the trading block, Baalke's ears better perk up.

It was reported that we will try and trade 1 or 2 defensive players to make room for Aldon and Dorsey

Trading some players is a good move. Like Lemonier to patriots who lost their best pass rush for the season.

If we're trading a defensive lineman, do you think they'd move Tank? Hope not, but they may be able to get some good value out of him if a team thinks he fits their system better. Realistically I think it would be another d-line for a lower rd pick

They would move TJE or Dobbs before Tank.
Both of those guys are FA after this year and despite not playing Tank and Dial are the future of the DL.
Tank's problem is that the guys ahead of him are playing at a high level and Fangio will always choose playing vets unless there is a huge gap in talent.
Lemonier is supposedly the one that people feel is going to get moved if any players get traded.

Dobbs, TJE, and Lemonier maybe Skuta are in trouble. Don't know if they move Skuta tho. He's playing better than Brooks and is cheaper, but is he a free agent at end of season?

Skuta has been out-playing
Brooks, but
Brooks is a better LOLB than
Skuta IMO. 2 different positions.

Well the trade deadline passed; nobody was traded. Didn't get a CB.

Well quality CBs and one that would be a noticeable upgrade to what we have already on roster just don't hit the market.
The roster is full of quality #2 type CBs so to me we just need a true #1 CB and we just won't get that other than the draft.

Schefter talked to 18 different teams at the deadline that said they made calls trying to get an idea if they could acquire a cornerback. He added that he wasn't sure if he had ever heard of that many teams calling around for help at ONE position in the days before a trade deadline.

49ers released Demarcus Dobbs this morning, according to Matt Barrows. Possibly for Dorsey.

Yep and Dobbs is a Seahawk...As for Dorsey, he is a stout run stopper and does not offer much in the pass rush department. He and Ian Williams play the same position NT and come off the field on passing downs. Do we need 2 NTs? I guess yes if one gets hurt. But Dial also has the ability to play the position! And STILL no Tank....Should we have re-signed Dorsey to the 2 year extension in August? If you remember, Ian Williams beat him out last season for the starting NT job and then he got hurt in Week 2 at Seattle. Ian is younger by a few years and perhaps a better player. We have Ian for one more season. Dorsey for 2 more. Did we extend the wrong player? I dont see them re-signing Ian as well - they simply dont need two NTs making that kind of money, especially since Dial can also play that position in a pinch.

With dial questionable and Dorsey 50-50 tank has to get a shot right? If not I don't see him playing at all this year.

there just aren't enough good corners in the league right now. even having a couple of #2 type cb's is pretty solid these days.
