Brooks is gone at his salary and with Lynch coming on. I think Skuta could stick around at or near the vet minimum in that case, though we may try to draft someone, too.

I hope the Cowboy plays one more season, but I'm not expecting it. Big blow to lose both starting DEs in one season. Hopefully Tank and Dial can step up.

Very pleased from what I have seen from Tank and Dial this season. As for Wilhoite mentioned above, I could also see him staying. He is restricted as is TJE. Good players for deph..

So if Football night in America is correct Harbaugh and the Niners parted ways ... unless we get a miracle back to the the dark days... yay in the big dick struggle Baalke and York win to screw the team. glad Roman will be gone... but firing a coach who turned around the program will come back to bit the niners in the ass.

The 49ers have just announced that Harbaugh and the 49ers have "mutually agreed" to part ways.

Alex Flanagan:

"Jim and I have come to the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interest to move in different directions,” 49ers CEO York.

When I was looking at the current Coaching staff list on the 49ers web page Roman was not on it. It came back a few minutes later though. Someone had an itchy trigger finger there.

Very curious to see what they do. I'm skeptical it will be an upgrade, but we'll see.

Brian Kelly from ND or David Shaw from Stanford are where I'd go if I were in charge, and I'd attempt vehemently to keep the defensive staff together. Brian Billick/Rex Ryan would come in after that if the first two didn't come through.

I'm honestly expecting the worst, though. An Adam Gase or Dan Quinn type of hire. :banghead:

Adam Gase would be the far, far scarier hire between him and Quinn. Quinn actually has the type of personality I can get behind and would be somebody that could handle the (insert adjective here) SF media.

I'm not sure there'd be a worse name, of all the names that could be considered, "realistic" than Darrell Bevell, though. And the scariest part about that is a number of linked in personnel people have been on the record saying that Bevell's personality is one that would appeal to Jed and Paraag (for some reason).

Gase, just barely, feels like the leader in the clubhouse right now but I've become far less confident in predicting what they'll wind up doing. It wouldn't stun me if Josh McDaniels, another York favorite and another candidate reportedly, who has been considered by the 49ers at least two times in prior searches, ruling himself out from all considerations pretty early into the process again but we'll see.

Josh McDaniels terrifies me that just screams return to the perpetual cellar... the other names I am mostly meh on Rex Ryan I'd be on the bandwagon but the other names fill me with dread not hope.

I wonder about Mangini.....how does he play out through all of this. I've never been a fan of him.....just don't see him as anything special.

If Fangio doesn't want to go back to the NCAA, I hope the 49ers can retain him as DC.

What is wrong with Quinn? Just wondering as I know nothing about him other than he is Seattle's DC. I don't think we need him if Fangio on the staff and I would probably try and promote Fangio before hiring Quinn.

He had an off year this year. If he is gone, I think it would be a financial consideration above all else

Matt Maiocco:

Frank Gore bought pizza for the media and told us how much he appreciated what we do. Wow. What a class act. “I’ll be back,” he said.
