Big Ben was at first hesitant about Todd Haley's offense, but his stats have improved, his health has improved, and they are back to their winning ways. Big Ben now has an offense that has quicker pass plays, thus saving Ben from all those sacks. Their 2014 offense is ranked second in the league.
The Niners offense has failed all season because of poor play by the offensive line, injuries, a holdout by Boone, lack of production (McDonald), and just poor clock management. Greg Roman made zero adjustments in the second half and the Niners became inept.
The defense could not hide all the problems the offense has created over the years. The defense ranked as high as fifth and the offense nosedive.
