Just read that Fangio will not be joining Harbaugh in Michigan. That certainly is good news as I was hoping to retain him...However, in some sad news - retirement is likely for Justin Smith. Nothing confirmed, but looking that way. He will be greatly missed if he retires. We brought him in to replace a hall of famer in Bryant Young, now we may need someone to replace him.

I'm wondering about Fangio getting a HC gig with the Bears....we've kept Rodgers in check and beating the Pack is a good calling card for that job. I know Kaep had a lot to do with that but so did Vic's D.

Totally agree. I hope coach Vic stays on at least as defensive coordinator.

A other scenario is we snag Bowles and the Cards snag Vic. I think he and Arians have history, if memory serves me.

I have a slight, slight, outside belief Harbs get wooed by the Bears as well. I'm not convinced Michigan is 100% done deal.

Bottom line is this could go 10 different ways.....

I think if the Bears wanted a defensive mind as HC they'd make a run at Rex Ryan. Plus, there are some other "hotter" names out there in terms of DCs - Dan Quinn and Todd Bowles being two of them. I think Vic Fangio is safe as long as the new HC doesn't bring in his own DC.

Fangio has expressed to the 49ers that he wants the 49ers HC job.

And it's highly unlikely he'll stay unless he gets the HC job. It's an all-or-nothing thing with him IMO and I have very little doubt about that.

Is Fangio loyal to Roman?
