OT 2013 Draft Revisited

Post#1 » by NinerSickness » Fri Jan 2, 2015 2:15 am

After getting repeatedly kicked in the nutz by football this season, I want to make myself better by revisiting a draft I think I nailed : 2013. It's still early, but how did you do?

Some busts / overrated I predicted:

Dion Jordan: bust
Barkevious Mingo: bust
Tavon Austin: bust
DJ Hayden: bust
Kenny Vaccaro: My 2013 bust pick! :)

Sylvester Williams: overated
Cordarrelle Patterson: overrated
Datone Jones: overrated

I also didn't love Desmond Trufant because I didn't think he can tackle at all, and I haven't been following his career whatsoever. How's he doing?

And I really liked / loved:

Ziggy Anzah
Dee Milliner

Sheldon Richardson (a Clyde favourite)
Star Lotulelei (not as much as Richardson)
Eric Reid (please let his noggin get better)
Tyler Eifert
DeAndre Hopkins (a Pozz favourite)

...Not a bad first round IMO. My arm kinda hurts from patting myself on the back, but this is all I have in the world of football right now except rooting against the Seahawks, Broncos, Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys & Packers. :( :( :(

How'd your 2013 draft predictions go?

Hopkins was a favorite of mine too.

I have heard Trufant is considered the best CB for the Falcons. At one point PFF had him graded #4 overall.

I wouldn't consider Patterson overrated. Look at what he was doing with a **** QB and getting actual use before this season. I said all along he might be a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) which is the reason they benched him this year. He wasn't learning the offense and they just stopped manufacturing touches for him. Sad because he is outrageous with the ball in his hands.

I'm very worried about Reid. He has a soft melon and is risking serious long term mental damage.
I thought Hayden and Vaccaro were overrated. I still can't believe how badly McKenzie messed up that draft.

Loved me some Richardson. I was a big fan of Tavon Austin as well but that hasn't worked out for multiple reasons.

Cordarrelle Patterson is the same as Ty Montgomery. An athletic freak without the developed nuances of the WR position. Both need their looks manufactured. That said, I'd love me some Montgomery in the 2nd or 3rd.

I thought mingo was gonna bust...

Disappointed to a degree with millner.

I blame the rams first then Austin for his play.

For three firsts, I feel Minny underachieved

I think Milliner was coming along well until he was lost for the season w/ an injury.

I've been meaning to reply to this thread, Dee Milliner had 10 PDs and 3 INTs amazingly in his last two games against the Browns and Phins. I still think regardless that he's going to be horrid.

I called Rhodes, Trufant, and Milliner all busts in 2013. Trufant for some reason is HEAVILY favored by the PFF staff to the point he actually won their DROY award over Sheldon Richardson.

Falcons secondary normally gets picked apart each weekend but you can blame their pass rush for that. IMO, Trufant's status is still up in the air. I would still take Robert Alford (Falcon's other 2013 CB) over Trufant without hesitation though.
