Just curious, isn't Fangio under contract for 2015? And if he is, is it standard protocol just to release him from his contract to pursue another job if he's unhappy?

I was curious about this as well but I can't see them keeping him around being upset and tomsula maybe wanting his own guy. I also can't see him leaving as highest paid DC with this talent to take possibly less money and less talent. Its not like teams are knocking down his door to be their head coach .

Yeah, I was thinking the same exact things. I figured Pozz or someone more knowledgeable would know the intricacies of this type of situation.

Yes we know but they don't have to grant it.

Yep, but I was wondering if it's protocol to just release him. He's under contract so is there a world where he stays if we don't release him?

What's the upside there? Hey we don't want you as HC but you can't leave. Do a great job this year......tough situation.
If we were going this route we should have kept Jim one more year.

Like I've said before tho how many teams have asked to interview him as head coach? So what has his options been so far? And he would have to do a great job or what's that look like on his resume quit on his team when he didn't get promoted ?

He can go to another team as a DC and cite creative differences. Arizona needs a DC, so does Denver, so do a few other teams.

Re: Fangio
The Redskins asked and were denied permission. I am hoping, praying, willing to sacrifice a virgin or a thousand hippys or whatever it takes to keep Fangio in San Francisco. He did a hell of a job with the defense and I don't think theres a DC out there that could be comparable.

Re: Fangio
If he goes to Washington, he'll be their HC next season, book it. He'll turn around that defense and make them a top 8 defense in the NFL.
