Was about to say the same thing. This and the "Rathman promoted" thread need question marks. Please don't label a thread like an event has occurred when you're just speculating it might. It is very misleading.

Crap. Let me expand on that before I head off so there is no misunderstandings. That would be my wish, not expectation. My expectation would be that he'll again get a big time offer to head up somebody else's organization and leave before the 49ers get to that point.

Baalke has overall done a good job as GM, but Niners will not be able to attract top notch coaches with him at the helm, unless of course he agrees to let the coach has final say on personnel, kinda like Schneider in Seattle.

If the 49ers bring back exec Tom Gamble, that'd be good for Trent Baalke, but especially good for Jim Tomsula, who is close to Gamble.
