The "Where the Hell Do I Post This?" Thread

Post#1 » by MHSL82 » Thu Sep 24, 2015 4:42 pm

I couldn't find a place to post this and didn't want to drag out a new thread for it. This is not the BS Thread, as that stuff would go into the Community Thread. This is mostly Niners or NFL related randomness that involves the Niners in some way (Around the League Thread is if it doesn't involve the Niners).

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13725758/colin-kaepernick-san-francisco-49ers-says-being-asked-in-2015

"I would say the biggest thing is I'm being asked to be myself this year," Kaepernick said. "And I don't think anyone knows how to be myself better than me. So it's a comfort zone for me. It's a situation where I'm not being asked to do things outside of my character."

Meaning he feels as though he was asked to do things outside of his character before?

"Outside of how I would normally handle situations, yeah," Kaepernick said.

Kaepernick was then asked whether he was talking specifically about being in the pocket more or being told to not go outside the pocket.

"No," Kaepernick said. "I'm getting at that I was asked to do things outside of my character."

Character?

"I mean, they asked me to wear a Miami Dolphins hat, hang out with Seattle Seahawk players, invite some strange woman into my house, and pose for SI... out of my character, though the SI thing was pretty cool, as it provided a break from all they film study I've been meaning to do."

Just kidding, I'm not actually suggesting he didn't film study or that there isn't a limit for value from such studying or that he doesn't deserve some time off.

It seems, instincts or natural skills (as in strengths) seems like the better word. Was character being asked to not do well in certain situations? Or was it trying to get better at a weakness? Obviously, he wanted more freedom to either run, make a riskier throw in a conservative system, or get out of the pocket and he felt he'd be better off in certain situations to do so but he couldn't.

Isn't every player it at every position asked to do something differently than they would have done on their own? It's called coaching. Sometimes coaching doesn't sound like what you would instinctually do. I think lack of coaching is the worst. I think if it's good coaching but it doesn't fit you, it can be bad too, but it seems funny to question it as you go along as a character thing.

Blue Jay fans are feeling how the Giants would have felt in the 2011 NFCC game had the refs ruled Bradshaw's fumble was a fumble. The Ggiants would claim the whistle blew and they let it go.

Is it just me.....or are the time stamps on these threads way off? The times don't make any sense to me relative to current time. I checked my home network and my times are set correctly. Anyone else notice this?

How many times do I have to show you how to work this thing?

...Oh wait. You're right. It says "less than a minute ago," and October 21st was like 5 days ago.

I'm getting a little tired about ESPN not having the game videos summaries on their recaps anymore. All they have now are the analysts and interviews. I wanted to see the Bridgewater hit and the Rodgers interception, but all they have is Cam Newton being interviewed and Adrian Peterson being interviewed. I know I can go to NFL.com to do it, but I'm already on ESPN looking for box scores. I don't like NFL.com's format for box scores.

I haven't seen them all but in general 30 for 30 is a very good show. I remember very well when the Buffaloes were a powerhouse in CFB. I didn't know what happened to Sal Aunese's son and his current connection with our staff........

T.C. McCartney is in his second season in the NFL and first with the 49ers as an offensive assistant. He spent the previous season as quality control coach with the Cleveland Browns.

Prior to joining the Browns, McCartney was an offensive graduate assistant for two seasons (2012-13) at the University of Colorado. While at Colorado, McCartney worked closely with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren and the quarterbacks while also assisting with various parts of the entire offense.

McCartney first began coaching in 2011 as a graduate assistant at Louisiana State University. His duties included assisting with the quarterbacks, special teams and the overall offense, as the Tigers spent much of the year ranked number one before losing to Southeastern Conference rival Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game.

Prior to coaching, McCartney played quarterback at LSU for four seasons (2007-10) and was a member of the Tigers 2007 national championship team. He was also a part of LSU teams that won two SEC Championships (2007 and 2011) and played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl (2008), the Capital One Bowl (2009) and the Cotton Bowl Classic (2010). He was the recipient of the team’s Jeff Boss Unsung Hero Award, in 2010.

McCartney graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration. He is the son of former Colorado QB Sal Aunese and the grandson of former Colorado head coach Bill McCartney, the winningest football coach in Colorado history.

Gregg Williams saying he's moving on from a late hit on the opposing team's QB. Since when can you move on from criticism of your team's actions? I mean, it should be Bridgewater or the Vikings moving on, right?

Even though I enjoy stress free weekends either watching other teams or doing my own stuff, I HATE BYE WEEKS!!! Playing on Thursday or Monday accomplishes the same thing without not playing.

First, I thought Torrey's response was funny and accurate. She made things up or embellished.

Second, how does a random mother write a letter to a player that gets publicized? I'm sure if I have the occasion to want to write to a player it would never get to him nor to the media. Somebody else had to read it and then publish it. Why wouldn't they just ignore it?

This is stupid. It's a trick play where you fake a kneel in victory formation and then pass for a touchdown. Why would you do a victory formation with two minutes and 50 seconds to go when the other team has timeouts? You can't run the clock out and you're only up by three. You are on your side of the field, so a field-goal couldn't even help you force the other team to need a touchdown.

The other team did end up scoring a touchdown after your fake, so they obviously had time to score. So that begs the question, if there is no reason to do the victory formation, why would you fall for the fake?

Edit: Nevermind, it wasn't a kneel-down in victory formation, the title was wrong. It was a fake option.
