Why cut Hayne? No chance he clears waivers right?

I'm sure someone will pick him up. Probably seahawks.

I can't remember seeing anything from Gaskin that even stood out. He was no where near as exciting as Hayne was.

Buy Hayne has limited value besides returns right? With the injury to Hyde, they need a RB who can take snaps on offense?

Probably is nowhere near ready to run, block, catch passes out of the offense.

It's understandable that Hayne wouldn't be ready for those tasks. But they should have prepped Mike Davis for those things, so that they don't have to rely on brittle Reggie Bush, who really doesn't want to run the ball inside.

He was a returner who fumbled. But yeah, I think that Hyde is done for the season and they had to make a move. And with Bush being a injury waiting to happen a move was needed. I hate to lose him. he looked very good and with time I think he would be a great return man.

Gaskins sucked though. I hated him in preseason. I would rather have gotten the wife beater. They have so much money because of all the retirements, but they don't use it.

Don't agree with the move. I'm shocked like shouldakepowens, and like Hangman I am both utterly underwhelmed by the idea of Gaskins getting PT and believe Baalke should have looked to free agency to sign any and every RB possible before or instead of promoting Gaskins to the active roster.

Just a couple free agent RBs I would have preferred adding to the team instead of Gaskins (no particular order):

Jonathan Dwyer
Knowshon Moreno
Ben Tate
Montee Ball
Jeff Demps
Benjarvus Greene Ellis
Kory Sheets
Isaiah Pead
Daniel Thomas
Pierre Thomas
Shonn Greene

Even old man Ronnie Brown (4.2 YPC in 2014) or the bust-tacular Trent Richardson.

Brilliant, cut one of the only guys to demonstrate some big play ability.

Yeah they needed to use him more. Screens, sweeps, routes out of the backfield.

I have no problem cutting a guy with "months" of NFL experience. He showed some flashes in preseason mostly against back-ups and guys that didn't make a team. He's running behind a garbage line so he has no help from that perspective.

If we keep him on the ps, fine. But this guy is 27 or 28 years old. He's not going to pay off big for anyone in my opinion.

Hayne went unclaimed so it appears he is headed back to the 49ers. Not sure whether on practice squad or regular roster

We're two RB's down now with Mike Davis getting surgery on his hand. They need to bring Hayne back to the active roster and let him return punts for the remainder of the year. Can also throw him out there as a situational short down dual threat back. Ellington's okay back there, but he's a ticking time bomb for injuries too.

Hayne announced on Twitter that he signed to the 49ers practice squad.

I assume he will be put back on the 53 with both Davis and Bush going out? We only have 2 healthy RB's and both just got on the damn team.
