Kilgore believes he'll practice after bye week

Matt Maiocco:

49ers C Daniel Kilgore believes he'll begin practice after the bye week. Then, there's three-week window during which he can be activated.

Surely once he comes back it will have a ripple effect and cause some changes to the right side of the oline. Hopefully not enough to cause unwanted wins...

I would rather him just sit the rest of the year and be ready go be full go next season.

We don't want the wins and they should be throwing in the young unproven guys to see what they have and get them some reps and experience.

I wouldn't mind seeing Kilgore back provided he is fully healthy and ready to go. I don't think it precludes the 49ers from playing some of the young guys on the line. It actually gives the team more options. Maybe try Martin at Guard. Can still try someone else at Right Tackle in place of Pears who probably won't be with the team next year. Maybe Brown or Thomas.

Should be Staley, Thomas, Kilgore, Martin, Boone. These coaches won't do it though.

Yep. Been saying that since the preseason. At least this way, we can get try to get four guys settled in at the right spots this year, and then either woo Davis back or find a replacement for Boone this offseason. Or maybe Boone plays halfway decently at RT (which he hasn't been doing at LG) and we extend him at that spot.

I did get a chance a week ago to post a question to Matt Maiocco about Brandon Thomas and while his response was very brief, he basically said Thomas has not looked good at all and still might be recovering from injury.

Anyone else question our medical staff? Seems like an inordinate number of players suffer setbacks or are slow coming back. Bowman took forever. Ian Williams and Kilgore both needed two surgeries on broken legs and missed over a year. Tank needed a second surgery. And now Brandon Thomas looks hampered. What's going on with these guys? Taking injured players only works if we have a top-notch medical and training staff who can get these guys back to 100% quickly. Crabtree is the only guy I can think of who made a fast recovery.
