It can be quantitative or qualitative. I think he'll do better than Kaepernick.

I think he will do better than people would have thought he would do if before the season started you asked us how he would do if he had to replace Kaepernick if injured. I know that sounds convoluted, but I'm trying to take out any of the comparisons to Kaepernick and how the seasons gone. It would be easy to say that he will do better than Kaepernick did this year. Play it safe, take what the defense gives you.

depends on the o-line but I predict he will have one of those first start flukes.

283 yards
2 TDs
0 ints
only 2 passes will skip off the ground 5 yards in front of the WR.
He will be sacked 4 times

Hopefully this Sunday he'll do better. Atlanta doesn't have a good pass defense. I think they are something like ranked 30th in the league. It is the following game up in Seattle where I could see Gabbert implode.

They are ranked 24th. Starting Gabbert this week gives the Niners a better chance to tank for the worst record. If Gabbert has decent numbers it could make the waiving of Kaepernick much easier from a PR perspective. Starting Gabbert this week and switching back to Kaepernick against Seattle would only make the case stronger. Who the hell knows what the Niners will do after this week other than lose.

What if he does well? Atlanta's defense isn't very good so I would assume that will help his stats out.

And what exactly is better then Kap? Who knows if Kaepernick would have done well against a bad pass defense.

You never really know what Kap would have done this week because he isn't right in his head right now. It isn't a coincidence that probably two of his best games this year were against New York and Baltimore, two poor pass defenses. kap has struggled mightly against the good defenses, Seattle, Arizona, and the Rams. Not just Kap but the oline also. The Seattle game after will be very telling because they are still playing for a playoff spot and at least this current oline can't stop Avril or Bennett so you know Gabbert will be facing constant pressure.

I looked it up and it said 23rd. Doesn't matter. The Falcons are 3rd against the run which doesn't bode well for our awful oline or our makeshift RB corps. So this Sunday, it is going to all be on Gabbert to move this offense.

It varies from site to site. Yahoo had them at 24 and ESPN at 25:

I'm happy for him, much in the way I was happy for Tomsula. Not that I thought or think either would or will do well, but rather that on a human level, it's a great opportunity for him after the way his career started. It might just be one game or one half of a season if he performs well, but I'd feel it was a new chance if I were him.

I suspect it will be a Alex Smitesque with lots of quick passes and low ypa.

Got to keep in mind that the offensive line still sucks with the two best players on it being banged up a bit, the backfield is composed of a practice squad player and two guys signed off the street, Vernon Davis is gone, and Boldin is doubtful along with Celek who is questionable.

Oh and Dan Quinn is pretty familiar with the team so not exactly a recipe for successful offensive showing brewing.
