If they can draft any of the QBs in the draft

Are there any two way players in the draft? Maybe a safety/QB?

You have to see how the draft develops.

Team may not have a franchise QB on the roster but that doesn't meant there is one in the draft either.

Don't know yet. I'd like to see how Gabbert performs the rest of the way. The 49ers should draft a QB regardless but the question is at what round. If they draft in the top 10 or 15 they better not fck it up. Should they go with someone like Goff? How in the draft would you select him? Is he worthy of a top ten pick?

My concern about Goff is that he doesn't win in the big games, at least this year.

If he can't beat the better teams in the Pac 12, is he going to beat the better teams in the NFL?

Peyton Manning also didn't win big games in college. He of course became a record-setting QB but we see his record in the playoffs.

I like Goff a lot. Cook is growing on me too though.

Goff. Goff. Goff.

One of my favorite QB prospects of all time.

Goff! Goff! Goff! Goff!

If I had my druthers I would do whatever it took to get this guy, including going full Ditka and trading SF's entire draft in order to get him. SF already whiffed on Smith over Rodgers and I don't know if I could handle SF letting another Cal legend slip through their fingertips on draft day. I'm usually a homer (loved Jahvid Best, D-Jax & Lynch coming out), but Goff is homer-proof IMO.

Yo wco81, I'm curious... have you watched a lot of Goff this year? I ask because I'd like to know if I've missed something. I've mostly watched the marque games on Cal's schedule and nothing I've seen so far has caused my faith in him becoming an (elite) NFL caliber QB to falter. Cal's o-line is God awful (sound familiar?), his WRs are under performing, and Cal's D would struggle against kindergartners.

I haven't watched a lot. He's put up a lot of meaningless numbers, like running up the score on Oregon State.

But against better competition, he's throwing picks or just not getting TDs.

Aaron Rodgers meanwhile had some of his best games against the big teams, like USC.

ATM, 3/6 tops teams do not need QB, 4/6 if you include Det.

If my first rd pick needs be QB i'd say Goff first, Cookies 2nd.

Although I do have some question marks in regards to Goff over the past month or so.

Still some interesting QBs to be taken later in the draft too.

He can't do it all. His skill positions are a joke and his defense is pathetic.

I'm not saying he won't be a good NFL QB.

I just don't see this transcendent prospect, which is what Luck was suppose to be, the best prospect in a generation.

Luck could carry his team to a certain point, by holding the ball and making more risky decisions, but he's hit a wall with the Colts for now.

Same is true of Aaron Rodgers. He can make the Packers a playoffs team but since he got a big contract, the roster hasn't been as strong so they've not been to the SB.

I can't imagine Goff being as good as either Luck or Rodgers.

Goff - Lynch - Cook in that order... but they all have some question marks. I'm cooling on Goff because even against the better teams in the JC college league... er Pac 10 hes had some stinkers.

Goff's tape vs. Stanford is up - http://draftbreakdown.com/video/jared-goff-vs-stanford-2015/

Look at the foot-speed/footwork and ability to multi-task behind his LoS. Next level. He's got the nuances and subtleties down pat for a QB as young as his is. Also anticipation/timing and ability to off-look defenses and hit his 2nd/3rd level reads are all there.

Right up there with Andrew Luck as a QB prospect for me. Can't miss type.

With Johnny Knuclehead wearing out his welcome in Cleveland, the Browns will probably be looking to draft a QB.

Sounds like a good choice to go with a skilled pocket passer this time after going to QB's from gimmicky college offenses that were projects coming into the NFL (Smith & Kap)

Goff throws the out really well. He has that down. Puts it where only his guy can get it whether short or deep.

It's funny that people talk about Cook's tendency to miss on longer passes, but I saw Goff do exactly that on this video. 'Back had to dive for the ball on what would've been a first down; overthrew a couple of deep, rainbow passes that would've been big gains. Made a guy spin on a short slant instead of hitting him in stride...

He didn't make any stupid mistakes I'm used to seeing from Kaepernick. He actually threw the ball away instead of running out of bounds for a loss. He didn't force throws into coverage. He did throw a bullet to a guy who was really close a la #7, but that was the only DumbDumb-ism I saw.

He has a good sense of when to get rid of the ball; doesn't hold onto it too long.

I'd like to see him throw better balls in the middle of the field. He relies on working the sidelines too much IMO.

Still like a lot. Like him better than any of the 2014 & 2013 prospects. I'm not convinced he's a great QB though. At this point, I'd rather take the LT or DT from Ole Miss than Goff. Live to draft another day.

...Or take Cook. :)
