Meanwhile, Marathe also developed contentious and distrustful relationships with some players and agents, multiple league sources said
just gets me riled up more!!!!
But wow, actually change in the FO? well its not completely turnover, I wonder what duties were or will be shifted? The contract side of it remains with him and I have no problem with that.

I like Marathe as contract negotiator and salary cap manager ONLY.

Re: Marathe out
He reportedly is out of the NFL side of the Yorks business interests. Thank jeabus for that. But he was the leak and the reason Harbaugh is gone. And for Wright and Pears being brought to the 49ers.

An NFL source told me tonight that Marathe was being deposed as president in part because he is believed to be the source of many leaks.
From Ian Rapaport
My understanding is the decision to alter roles in #49ers front office came months and months ago. Wanted to make it through the season.
Adam Schefter
This was Marathe's decision; gives him a chance to do more things and be equity partner in York family ventures
Per Ray Ratto: "Even if Marathe is just a fall guy for the missteps of others, we can safely conclude that York has reached the stage of his ownership where everyone and everything irritates the hell out of him. Suddenly, the crown not only weighs heavy on the brow of the king, but it has the handy thorned inner lining. York is angry about what has happened with the former centerpiece of the family empire (the stadium is now the new favorite), and his impulse seems to demand swift, violent change."

Maybe Marathe was the reason his job was safe, since Marathe is being described as the reason Harbaugh is gone. If the decision was made months ago and they wanted to finish the season before demoting him, maybe Tomsula wanted that information out after the season when he could have built some better football. Now his time to do that is shorter and if possible, even more public.

Ian and Adam are reporting what the 49ers want the masses to hear. The local guys have very clearly reported the truth. There was a blowup this weak and the decision was made.

I read Tomsula was beefing with Maraathe and no showed that day. So it isn't a coincidence that right after that they make this decision then try and cover their tails with the mainstream media. The team is a dumpster fire. Some Hamilton guy is already doing the player contracts this year for 49ers so don't read into the hype that Maraathe is still doing that. He has been shifted to run the business on a minor league soccer team in Sacramento.
This is actually bad for the 49ers for the simple fact that Maraathe was an all-star with player contracts and the cap.
The biggest problem with the team is Jed/Jim/Trent. Coaching decisions and player personnel are a problem. I don't care about leaks to the mainstream media. Harbs isn't gone because of that. Jed and him were at odds. Plain and simple. I'm also not gonna sit here and believe that Jed had no idea what Maraathe was saying as a leak all this time. I'm pretty sure he was in on it himself. The onfield performance this year is so bad that things got worse so scapegoats were needed.

I believe overall this is could be a net gain. Marathe's role had expanded in recent years to team president. He was involved in the replay booth. He was involved in the head coaching selection and with the moneyball analytics. He clearly had a role he didn't deserve and was not qualified for. He once arrogantly stated something to the effect it wasn't that hard to be a football GM. This doesn't fix the 49ers problem. York isn't going anywhere so York needs to first come to the realization that the 49ers need someone with a footballm background leading the organization. Someone who has proven experience. Next they need to do deal with the GM and scouting dept. As far as cap matters, the 49ers can always find another bean counter.

I wonder if his son being named Nolan has to do with our former coach. Hampton has been here 12 years...

Re: Marathe out
Maybe the recent adverse publicity about Paarag being involved with the leaks and having his mutts in game management is partly responsible.
Equity from running the wannabe MLS team and the company which made the stadium app for smart phones? Sounds like a demotion.
But now some guy named Al Guido is team president. He led the sales of SBLs so maybe this is a reward. But what if he gets involved in decisions like player personnel, head coach hiring, etc.?

Re: Marathe out
My guess is Marathe was the one that sold Jed on the current direction of the team and now that Jed is taking a ton of heat because of the direction of the team he's looking to hold Marathe responsible.
I've said it in the past but I honestly do believe that Jed wants to win and he envisions himself becoming like Uncle Eddie but Jed is just incompetent and doesn't know how to do it. He's surrounded himself with people that aim to please him and tell him what he wants to hear when you simply need a guy that knows football and knows what to do win.
No telling if York doesn't continue to screw it up BUT at the very least he's not stubbornly sticking to his guns and is going to attempt to fix it. Hopefully the blind squirrel will find the nut.

Re: Marathe out
Well looks like Trent is going to be around through the expiration of his contract after next season.
That means he gets the next draft and the offseason.

Baalke likely gets a pass because he can shrug his shoulders and say "Hey I wanted Gase".
How much slack is in the noose depends on how much of Marathe's data he used for personnel moves. He could throw Marathe under the bus by just saying it was his data that lead to the current state of the roster.

Re: Marathe out
This is Kawakami so take it for what its worth. What caught me was the comment about Denise York being unhappy about the state of the team. If that is true, then step in and do something about it. I know she isn't going to kick her son to the curb but she ought to look into to bring some football credible people into the organization at the top. I don't know who this Guido guy is yet, but he doesn't sound like that kind of guy.

Re: Marathe out
Good morning staff,
By now I am sure most of you have seen reports of some transition in our front office, and I apologize that we were unable to communicate with you directly prior to certain information reaching the media. Our original intent was to formalize the transition following the Super Bowl.
As many of you may have seen in recent months, Paraag and Al’s roles within the organization have been evolving.
In addition to his longstanding responsibilities in football operations as the team’s chief contract negotiator and head of our analytics department, Paraag has chosen to take a leadership role in the organization’s new ventures efforts. As you know, Paraag has been the lead in our partnership with the Sacramento Republic FC soccer team and was instrumental in developing and launching VenueNext. We anticipate great things to come from our new ventures wing as it continues to grow.
With Paraag focusing so much time and energy on new business opportunities, Al has taken the lead on the day-to-day business operations of the team and Levi’s® Stadium.
Despite how some have chosen to portray this transition in the media, I want you to know that Paraag has been and will continue to be an instrumental member of this organization. Without his contributions over the last 15 years, the successes achieved by this organization would not have been possible.
Sincerely,
Jed
Per Matt Maiocco... a letter issued by Jed through his communications dept.
