Guardedly optimistic, maybe? I don't know anything about the dude, but the game film out there shows that he has dominated clearly inferior competition. I guess that's all you can ask for a guy in his situation, but it'll be very interesting to see how he measures up to NFL-level talent.

No not excited. He looks like a twig and how is he against press at the line of scrimmage?

A guy like that would have difficulty being a #1 but can still be effective if used properly. That is something Harbaugh/Roman/Chryst was never able to do.

I didn't think he looked like a twig. He is no Calvin Johnson but 215 lbs isn't that bad. Torrey Smith is only 204, Antonio Brown 181 Beckham 198, AJ Green 207, Cooks 189, Sanders 180, Hilton 180 etc. most of the 1000 yard WRs are actually smaller than him.
I'm sure he is a future hall of famer.

They list him at 6'4" though. He was listed as 6'3" 206 coming out of College. My peepers see chicken legs and skinny arms.

Physically, A.J. Green might be the closest comparison to Rogers. He's not rocked out like Dez, but he's quite a bit bigger than guys like DeSean Jackson and others you listed.

What has stood out to me the most in some of his highlights is how bad the defense is - mistimed jumps, bad angles, etc.

That and his hitting the line of scrimmage at full speed...which obviously will never happen in the NFL. I could see him being a position receiver (good hands) right out of the gates, but until we see how he plays off the line all bets are off. They obviously see something in him (as did a lot of other teams), so I'm glad we roped him in to give it a shot.

The running towards the line of scrimmage is arena highlights not the cfl. I am also glad we grabbed him as well with so many teams interested why not take a shot?

Ah I see...I've never actually watched a CFL game in my entire life so I figured the rules where the same...maybe I was confused with the double motion that's allowed in the CFL and the allowance of the forward motion in arena? Meh...let's hope he's something special...looks big and has great hands.

Watching his CFL Highlights I thought his movement looked a lot like another #80 we know and love. I'm not comparing his hands, route running or anything else close to the GOAT, but his body type and motion seemed very similar to me. Holding out hope there are still small town guys that still get overlooked...

You are not confused. Forward motion is allowed in the CFL from the slotbacks. WRs that start from behind the line of scrimmage and are allowed to have a running start. I have even seen two slotbacks on the same side of the field with a running head start and no WR lined up on the ball. Rogers played a lot of slotback.

Interesting read from when he was in the draft:
http://www.catscratchreader.com/2013/4/12/4218218/2013-nfl-draft-no-stone-unturned-wr-eric-rogersHe's got good height, seemingly very nice leaping ability and hands, but based on the highlight reel I watched, he hasn't answered questions about his route-running. The route tree that I saw him running in the video was pretty simplistic. We'll see. If he pans out, great, and it's fairly low risk particularly given our cap situation, but it's still a decent chunk of guaranteed money to hand to a guy who couldn't make the Cowboys in 2013 (second receiver Terrance Williams was their fourth-leading receiver with 44-736-5, and Cole Beasley was their third with 39-368-2; fifth receiver Dwayne Harris went 9-80-2).
