Of course only to be used for day/night of Draft rd 1-7....

All other tidbits of rumors/news should still posted in the '16 draft thread for consistency prior to opening selection.

Roger Goodell - C - Free Agent

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the city of Philadelphia "has emerged as the leading candidate" to host the 2017 Draft.

L.A. is also in the conversation. At the moment, Philadelphia makes more sense while the Rams work on the construction of their mega NFL complex that will also be home to NFL Network. The plan is to have it done by 2019. NFL cities all across the country have expressed a desire to host the draft.

Welp, I'm putting all of my chips in for Jarran Reed at 7, or a trade back. I can live with Buckner/Stanley. That's about it.

Here's what my Baalke precognition says,

Buckner at 7 unless Bosa is still around.

Dolphins will trade up for Cleveland's 8th pick to select Zeke ahead of the Giants.

Baalke goes ahead and TRADES Kaepernick, 3rd round from this year, and a 1st rounder from 2017, to get back into the first round at 13.

13th selection is Connor Cook.

Why would the Fins want Kap?

Should have clarified that Browns and Dolphins would swap picks, so we'd be trading with Cleveland

Ah, okay. That makes more sense. Still, having added RGIII (who, admittedly, I don't think much of at all at this point), I can't see the Browns pursuing Kap.

Paxton Lynch - QB - Tigers

CBS Sports' Benjamin Albright reports that an NFL source told him Wednesday that a team would "likely" have to hop over the 49ers at No. 7 to get Memphis QB Paxton Lynch.

Albright received the following text from the source on Wednesday evening: "We think you'd need to get ahead of #7 to get Paxton Lynch, most likely." Lynch has been called the first round's most pivotal prospect because his range of outcomes is so darn wide. He could go anywhere from the top-10 to somewhere in the 20s. Whether this source has inside information or is making a guess is unknowable, but it wouldn't be surprising if Lynch goes earlier than expected. After the No. 2 pick, he'll be the best quarterback on the board.

Myles Jack - LB - Bruins

UCLA LB Myles Jack (knee) admits that it's possible he'll eventually have to undergo microfracture surgery.

"It's nothing extreme," Jack said on the issue of his degenerative knee condition. "Down the line, possibly, I could have microfracture surgery—potentially. Who knows what will happen?" He added that "to play three years in this league would be above average." If Jack is guilty of anything here, it's of saying too many words. This quote contains no new information, but it's being read as a sort of smoking gun by some in the media. What we think Jack is saying is this: "Yes, my odds of having microfracture surgery are higher than an average prospect's. But that procedure is entirely hypothetical. It may not happen at all. But if it does, that surgery will happen after I've given multiple years of tremendous value to my next team on my rookie contract."

Cook at thirteen would be an abomination. I'd effectively renounce my 49ers membership until Baalke is gone.

Anyone who drafts Lynch or Cook in the first round.... just proves the stupid is strong with them.

Now that the Rams are in Cali and they're about to select Goff, my wish is the whiny 49er fans jump-ship but are still brave enough to come on here to post. Twice a year we'll get to see Goff on the sideline—full of potential, but plagued with injuries. He'll have Armstead, Lynch, and Buckner/Bosa to thank for things not going right.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
