Silberman too, for that matter, though he was a sixth-rounder as memory serves. It will be extremely interesting to see how it shakes out. I was really hoping Martin and Thomas would round into form, but it's looking somewhat unlikely.

I think Thomas played with the 2nd unit Saturday. What do you think of his play? He was mentioned once for good play.

Honestly, I didn't catch much of it. I watched most of the game, but I was trying to get some work done while doing so, so my focus was admittedly not as great as I would have liked.

Brandon Thomas project isn't looking good. I expected much better from him by this point(as would Baalke(another strike)).

I shouldn't say he looks bad but he's not looking like that predraft hype at all.

I gave him a pass for last year since it often takes two years to really return to form from an ACL tear. But at this point, I figured he would really be showing up. Especially in a scheme that appears pretty well-suited to his superior athleticism for the interior spot. He may just not be physical enough to play inside at the NFL level. It's too bad. When we drafted him, I thought he would be a sure-fire starter by this year.

Brandon Thomas and Marcus martin may not make this team.
Martin could stick since he's still so young but we will see.

I would love for a starting unit of Staley/Garnett/Kilgore/Davis/Brown and having Beadles and Tiller rotating to keep fresh legs is huge. Pretty much any mix of those 7 guys has me feeling much better than last year.

I'd rather Tiller started than Garnett at this point. Let the kid learn a bit on the bench. Tiller has been better this preseason. Not that Garnett has been bad - he's been pretty good.

Yes - it would be really smart to rotate this line if possible. Might be difficult with this system but could mix things up series to series. If they could rotate during a series and keep the tempo up it would really wear defenses down.

Now that Beadles is practicing at Center, the coaching staff must see Martin as just a guard where the competition is much stiffer.

Cam Inman:

Hearing that #49ers DT Quinton Dial may have sustained MCL sprain, will have couple weeks to recover before Sept. 12 opener

I'd much rather slide Beadles over to center than settle for Kilgore. He's never been any good.

Very disappointed Fahn Cooper didn't make the roster.

Your resume for the OL IIRC:
Doubted Anthony Davis
Supporter of Marcus Martin, Bruce Campbell, Jason Smith
I think you also didn't like Andre Smith

Good thing for us, Fahn Cooper was signed to the practice squad

Glad to see you've been trying to keep track of me, though.

Definitely right on the Bruce Campbell and Jason Smith flops. Anthony Davis you may have given up his 2nd year—I remember being the last one trying to stand to Davis-haters.

Fahn Cooper signed to the PS :) should make every 49er fan excited about this OL's future

Bruh...the Fahn Cooper you wanted to start has been relegated to the D-League. GTFO.

Weird to see the offensive line going from one of the most abysmal units in the league last season to maybe one of the better ones in the league this season.

The only position I feel could use an upgrade in the near future is Center as Kilgore is just solid at best.

The fact they kept Martin means I'll keep a silver of hope that he could still develop into something. It just seems like his biggest problem isn't that he's strong enough and with him being 22 and not quite at the peak of his body yet I think the team is holding out that he still has room to get stronger.

I like this OL. Love how Trent Brown went from 7th round pick out of Florida to starting RT in his 2nd year.

Great news: http://www.ninersnation.com/2016/9/6/12801018/von-miller-trent-brown-one-of-best-tackles-in-nfl

Trent Baalke even screws up 7th-round picks! He's supposed to draft a scrub there, and he gets a great player.
