Garcon officially ruled out. Kittle is good to go, as expected.

Go heavy or spread them out? NFL’s two best run-blocking teams getting it done differently

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-go-heavy-or-spread-them-out-nfls-two-best-run-blocking-teams-getting-it-done-differently

That being said, any team in the NFL that is looking to have success running the ball is best suited to acquire successful run blockers and build from there. Currently, the two best teams in terms of PFF team run-blocking grades are the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers with grades of 78.7 and 73.4, respectively. The interesting thing about those two teams residing on top is that they sit on the extremes as far as how often they run the ball out of personnel groups that contain three or four wide receivers.

So how much do you hate our new running back Chris?

Matt Dayes?

I'm on record as saying there are things I like about him. They also had Jeff Wilson as an option. I liked him far more and in my own little Niners bubble I haven't seen any one more vocal about him getting a chance this season than me.

However, it depends on what they feel like they need out of the roster because they are two very different backs which is what I said last week after the Raiders game when Mostert broke his arm.

If the roster situation is equal I'd rather see what Wilson could give me before the end of the year than Dayes. They might feel Dayes projects better and may have picked up the offense faster in their running scheme and maybe gives them a little more of an option as a receiver, though Wilson has more experience than many in that regard at the same time.

Neither project to be able to come in and lead any sort of charge for an extended period of time. No one should expect that. Both will have to be part of a group or stable.

Wilson would fit in better with what I'd like to see out of my running backs if it were up to me. He's more of a threat beyond the vision stuff once he gets into contact.

Dayes is NOT a good option when he has to give you any kind of nasty physical stuff but he's better getting into his runs better and seeing things more clearly and will just hit it and go. He's also not a real big threat as an extra gear guy and might not break off too many runs for big gains.

What I think Shanahan might like about Dayes is the vision stuff and how he projects to his system with the outside zone stuff and what he might be able to give you as a 3rd down guy.

Usually don't swing from one direction on a player to a completely other direction on a player given my college background and the time I dedicate to following the game but I started as a, "Yeah, I probably don't need to see what they could do with him and he's just finish the season out with him kind of guy and then see you later" but I'm starting to transition into an area of, "This guy is definitely worth more developmental time and one of the pieces I might leave in place" if they aren't going to do a near full tear down with scheme and roster.

The biggest bummer is he'll be 31 going into next season. He's only started 7 games in a little over 9 1/2 seasons and has never started more than 3 times in any season (2013 - Bucs). Don't bother looking at common statistical production numbers because it's very little for a guy that has played as long as he has and obviously it would be foolish to expect him to have a major explosion at this point in his career but he's an interesting guy with his background and one I'd probably devote more time to as a rotational depth guy. Never would have thought I'd say that about him when they initially brought him in.

49ers put former Chargers LB on practice squad

https://ninerswire.usatoday.com/2018/11/19/49ers-put-former-chargers-lb-on-practice-squad/?utm_source=49ersWebZone&utm_medium=dt&utm_campaign=affref

Started off in college as a WR for a season. Tons of glowing opinions on him for his make up and character - was a team captain multiple seasons - but has a very limited ceiling and doesn't have the type of physical traits or the ceiling I like stacking on my PS generally speaking. He's a guy that falls in line with a lot of the former Seahawks/Jaguars type players the 49ers have tried to or did acquire over time.

This won't please the pro lose crowd.

Would've been a bleep to have to try and cover with this roster. 49ers are a bottom 11 team in covering TEs (as low as bottom 6 to others). Granted their schedule wasn't favorable towards that position from the get-go and it was expected.

Evans vs Spoon. Good for 3 TDs.
